GRIPPING, SUSPENSEFUL NOVEL

I absolutely loved this debut book by Molly Macabre and hope to read/listen to more by her! A deep, frightening, yet at times light-hearted novel about so much more than a zombie apocalypse. There's a little humor, a little romance, some strange people, lots of action, some mental health issues, and lovable characters Nick and Kate who come into this story with a ton of emotional baggage. Oh yeah, and there's the zombies. This riveting book kept me entertained while driving, and then while sitting in my driveway because I needed to find out what happens next! The narrator is excellent, with different voices for each character, yet in his own voice, if that makes sense. The voices are not exaggerated, yet I could easily distinguish between them. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am not normally an apocalypse fan, but even though that is the main point of the book, it is not the main focus. I loved it, you will too.

Great book

solid story interesting characters kept me engrossed from beginning to end. Joe James crushed the narration and the authors writing painted a vivid picture of the scenes as they unfold...highly recommend

Thriller romance

I went thru so many emotions listening to this book. Highly Recommend this book. I grew to love the main characters and their story.

Through Darkness Blooms Light

This was definitely a dark tale. It's infected were very creepy and gave me quite the heebie jeebies. I kept rooting for our protagonists to make it through the darkness.

The writer crafted an interesting, compelling apocalyptic world full of fully fleshed out characters.

I can't get too into it without spoiling things but, it made me feel a lot of feels. I related a lot to the fmc, Kate. I definitely recommend this book!

I ended up listening to it rather than reading. The narrator did an awesome job!

Better than a Zombie story

This is so much more than a good Zombie story. It is a story of humanity and all the dark struggles we each of us have faced at one time or another, wrapped up in a glorious macabre of life, death, and love. 🖤

Unique Zombie Twist

Brilliant storytelling and definitely pulls at the emotions! The unique behavior of the zombies are a fresh take and enjoyed the creativity of them. Give it a listen. You won't regret it!

A great horror romance story

I wrapped up the audiobook for Dark Bloom this morning, and let me tell you guys, it was a 5 star book for me! While it's not reinventing the wheel too much on the zombie horror genre side of things (at least not yet), the character work was phenomenal.

I think every person we come across was genuine and not there to check a box, but most importantly were Nick and Kate. These two precious human beings are done SO well. The depth through brief flashbacks and how they handle the variety of situations they come across bleeds onto every page. We're not given some half-assed "oh he saved me he's so sexy" trope. We're given a journey that develops over time, with all the ebbs and flows you'd expect from living and breathing people who have lived outside of the text on the page.

Now, on to the horror side of the story. I know I said that it didn't reinvent the wheel, but it was great as well. The infected seemed to have their own unique characteristics that gave them a unique flavor amongst other zombie-type creatures I've come across. The mix of their characteristics led me to something that made me question what to expect next. What made the different varieties? Will there be even more in the next book? What caused it? How is it transferred? How many survivors are still out there?

I loved every minute of this book and can't wait for the next book in the series.

Well worth the wait.

Charming in the way that broken people understand. Engaging and fun in the way that everyone understands. The world is a character here and the virus too. What a great start and a fabulous narrator.
