Publisher's Summary

This town is coming back to life! People have started moving to Buffalo Valley, North Dakota - people like Lindsay Snyder, who came as a teacher and stayed, marrying local farmer Gage Sinclair. And now Lindsay's best friend, Maddy Washburn, has decided to pull up stakes and join her in Buffalo Valley, hoping for the same kind of satisfaction. And the same kind of love. Jeb McKenna is a rancher, a solitary man who's learned to endure.

Maddy - unafraid and openhearted - is drawn to Jeb, but he rejects her overtures. Until one of North Dakota's deadly storms throws them together... Those few days and nights bring unexpected consequences for Maddy and Jeb. Consequences that, one way or another, affect everyone in Buffalo Valley.

Just Okay

I read the first book in this series on a whim and I only read this one because I like to finish what I start. But honestly I'm not certain I'll finish this series. This series is just not for me. Characters are unnecessarily stubborn, or dense, and the narration isn't the best. At times I couldn't tell who was talking.

Great story. Narration not so much.

Great story, but the narration was annoying. The male voices were all angry and nasty. Almost ruined the book for me.

terrible narration; sappy, formulaic story

What would have made Dakota Home better?

The story is SO predictable it's laughable.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She exaggerated the sappiness of the story to the point of parody. And she was TERRIBLE when doing men's voices.

Any additional comments?

I could barely slog though this, but it was all I had on a long trip.

Voice

I did not like how the voice changed between characters. The men don’t need to sound like they’re 90 always mad and backwoods. When I looked at a hard copy of the book, I did not see that gruffness almost meanness come across.
They also didn’t sound like men in their 30s they sounded 90 or older

Basically soft porn

I didn't even listen to all of this - I just couldn't, my time is valuable and this book was not. The narration was awful the story line was boring. Pass on this one.

Overall I liked this trilogy.

Overall I like this trilogy. What I didn’t like about the story or the trilogy in general was the anger of the residents of Buffalo Valley. While the residents are nice people each character is filled with anger off and on throughout the complete story line. The anger wears you down.

I’ve listen to many audiobooks but this book was just over the top when it came to each character and the amount of anger demonstrated on each encounter.

It was okay

It was predictable and slow. I was a little surprised regarding the sexual scene-- since this is not usually Debbie Macomber style. Its one of the reasons I listen to her books. The performance was fair

Great 2nd book

This is a great follow-up in the series. Looking forward to the final book in the series.

Foul language

I had heard this was a clean author but sadly she is not. Very foul language. Those who are looking for clean books beware.
