Publisher's Summary

This town is coming back to life!

People have started moving to Buffalo Valley, North Dakota - people like Lindsay Snyder, who came as a teacher and stayed, marrying local farmer Gage Sinclair. And now Lindsay's best friend, Maddy Washburn, has decided to pull up stakes and join her in Buffalo Valley, hoping for the same kind of satisfaction. And the same kind of love.

Jeb McKenna is a rancher, a solitary man who's learned to endure. Maddy - unafraid and openhearted - is drawn to Jeb, but he rejects her overtures. Until one of North Dakota's deadly storms throws them together...

Those few days and nights bring unexpected consequences for Maddy and Jeb. Consequences that, one way or another, affect everyone in Buffalo Valley.

Just Okay

I read the first book in this series on a whim and I only read this one because I like to finish what I start. But honestly I'm not certain I'll finish this series. This series is just not for me. Characters are unnecessarily stubborn, or dense, and the narration isn't the best. At times I couldn't tell who was talking.

Excellent Read

I’ve always been a fan of Debbie Macomber’s novels!!
This series is full of triumphs and tribulations.
I am going to look for the 3rd book of this series however I am not certain it is available yet!
The story line is interesting and very hard to put down.
I hope whoever decides to purchase this series (Dakota) that you’ll enjoy it as much as I have!
Happy reading/listening!!

Part 2

This is a great series, but does need to be read in order. Once again, the character development is excellent and the conflicts are well played.

Characters

Too many characters with relationship issues going on at same time. Could have concentrated more on each couple and created another book

Love happy endings

Loved reading stories about people finding love especially when the characters are dealing with loss and pain and find love which is healing,

terrible narration; sappy, formulaic story

What would have made Dakota Home better?

The story is SO predictable it's laughable.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She exaggerated the sappiness of the story to the point of parody. And she was TERRIBLE when doing men's voices.

Any additional comments?

I could barely slog though this, but it was all I had on a long trip.

Typically Debbie, and as usual heartwarming.

What made the experience of listening to Dakota Home the most enjoyable?

I don't see well at all and it is the best option for me.

What other book might you compare Dakota Home to and why?

It is a series and they are always my favorite. I can't wait till the next in the series comes out.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several, and they are always when the people solve their issues.

Any additional comments?

What I dislike is when the characters drag out their issues too long. It is entertaining to see them work out their issues and it makes you happy, but if they are too stubborn and it carries out for a year, I get angry at the character.
