Publisher's summary

The comedian, actor, television host, podcast king, and New York Times best-selling author of President Me, Not Taco Bell Material, and In Fifty Years We'll All Be Chicks now lays down the law on the plight of the modern parent.

Parents, do you often think that if your kids had to grow up the way you did - without iPads, 70-inch flatscreen TVs, American Girl dolls, and Wi-Fi in the climate-controlled minivan - they might actually be better off? Do you feel underappreciated or ignored? Do you worry you're raising a bunch of spoiled softies who will never know how to do anything themselves - because you do everything for them? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you need Daddy, Stop Talking.

Adam rips parenthood a new one, telling it straight about what adults must do if they don't want to have to support their kids forever. Using his own crappy childhood as a cautionary tale, and touting the pitfalls of the kind of helicopter parenting so pervasive today, Daddy, Stop Talking is the only parenting book you should ever read. Here, too, is sage advice to Adam's own kids - and to future parents - on what matters most: dating; drinking and drugs; buying your first house and car; puberty; and what kind of assholes his kids (and yours) should avoid becoming. Even if his own son and daughter pretty much ignore everything he says, you shouldn't. And you're welcome. Again.

More than just hilarious

I lived in LA for several years and laughed every time Adam came on the radio. It's so great that he reads his own audiobook. He drifts from the book a few times and that alone makes it worth listening to over reading it. This is the fastest I've ever gone through an audiobook. If you're easily offended, don't listen. Or better yet, listen, take it with a grain of salt and know that jokes are jokes. As a parent of two young children, it's incredibly relatable. There are some totally hilarious stories in it and a surprise appearance by two "characters" that is such a sweet treat. Not just a funny book, there is some genuinely great advice and at the end it's surprisingly quite inspiring. The man has some depth!

Great listen! Keep them coming!!

I'm a parent myself to three and I found this book to be relatable and hilarious at the same time! It makes me wish I could write a book about my kids. Great listen and I'm looking forward to listening to your other books!

Loved it

I really like Adams podcasts and his last two books so it's no surprise I loved this too. I had a lot of laughs and enjoyed Adams stories.

Always a good time.

As soon as I discovered this was narrated by Adam, I was like "LESS TALKY. MORE SELLY." No disappointments. Just like every book prior, brilliant. hilarious. I wish it never ended.

STOP TALKING, please :)

Wondering, which part of "stop talking" author did not understood?

How on earth this could be classified as "book"?

I'm sorry I wasted time listening to this

Most of the book is Adam ranting about how horrible everyone elses ideas and beliefs are. Although I'd have to say, it was a horrible idea for me to believe this book would be entertaining. It was mildly funny in very few parts of the book. A total let down.

If you're a fan of the podcast, you've heard all of this stuff already.

The book wasn't bad but I was expecting some new material. I listen to the Adam Carolla Show everyday and this is just same stuff he says on there.

Meh.

Overall this was pretty funny, but (1) the bits/stories dragged on waaaaay too long and (2) he really overused the word "retarded." Even one use is too much, but even after lightening up, and throwing him a bone, it was still too much.
The first half of the book was funny, and it basically should have ended there. The remainder was just a cranky guy beating a dead horse with and old schtick.

Not worth my time

This book was a waste of time and money. I listened to the first hour and laughed maybe once or twice. It's basically just the crass ramblings of someone who might've been funny a long time ago. I can't bring myself to waste my time listening to the rest. Boring, not funny, and a very annoying voice!
