Romantic Suspense

Both of the stories in this set were full of romantic suspense. The storylines were interesting and the characters were mostly likable. The narrator did a great job with all the voices and emotions of the characters and brought each story to life. I did receive a free credit for this set, however I have voluntarily provided an unbiased review and my opinions are my own.

Pretty good

Narrator does good job with male voices and overall, but his female voices are distracting and annoying and breathy and diminish the women

Great story bad narrator

Narrator choppy and lacks feelings. I loved reading this series, so I know it’s the narrator that’s rubbing me wrong.

Terrible narration

The narrator really ruined it for me, his narration was cringe worthy. The story and plot were good, but I think I would have read it then listen to the narrator

Great stories - narrator found lacking

Two amazing books for one great price!

Cyclone is a fast paced, second chance small town romantic suspense that packs one heck of a punch! If you love hot alpha men, sassy heroines and sizzling suspense with plenty of romance - you won’t be disappointed. One-click this bad boy today!

Eagle - Holy hotness on a cracker, Batman! So much angst. These two may have history, but the sparks flying between Finn and Charlotte are enough to start a forest fire! Once again Janie Crouch brings us a passionate, suspense-filled romance that’s worthy of a coveted place on our forever favorites’ bookshelf.

I absolutely LOVED these two books, but found the narrator lacking when voicing female parts. I found it distracting at times especially during more intimate scenes.

Great start to a series

This was the first two books in the series and I really loved both books. Tom Campbell does an amazing job and he is new to me as a narrator. I like him very much.
I loved the first book but I can say Finn and Charlie are a fav couple for me so far. I am going to continuing with the series as it is that good. Highly recommend

Sometimes small towns are tough, they never forget and aren’t quick to forgive

These books are fantastic. So many underlying plots. Yes there’s romance, yes there’s grudges, yes there’s some violence but in the end there’s romance and a great story. The Tactical guys are awesome, I want to move there just to meet them. Waiting for the Lifetime original movies to be made based on them!

Fantastic

The Linear Tactical series is a fantastic series from Janie Crouch. Cyclone introduces Zack and Annie, two broken people who are given a second chance while looking for a serial rapist, and Eagle centers around Charlotte and Finn, who have a history and not the good kind. The characters in both books, and the series, are strong and intelligent with action that is none stop. I literally couldn't put them down. Along with the action are great love stories (and some really steamy scenes) that build a full picture that draws the reader into the lives of the characters. Add in the wonderful narration by Tom Campbell and these amazing romantic suspense stories and may cause binge reading. Enjoy!

Pleasantly surprised!

Cyclone & Eagle, the first two books in the Linear Tactical Series, is a well-written and engaging romantic suspense. It contains military, suspense, action, mystery, second chance components mixed with romance, composed into a fabulous story. The storyline definitely captured my attention, keeping me engrossed right to the very end. This was my first Janie Crouch book and have to say; she is a talented author with great style. My favorite part of the story was the characters; I found them to be three-dimensional and interesting with depth. The romance portion is tastefully-done, steamy with off-the-charts chemistry.

Excellent narration by Tom Campbell, he portrayed the nuances of the characters while capturing their connection. I thoroughly enjoyed and this audiobook, and strongly recommend it. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Fast paced and interesting

Cyclone

Doctor Anne Nichols has returned to her hometown despite being warned off to leave and never return. She’s desperate and it’s her last option; Anne thinks she’ll be ok as long as she keeps her head down. No one seems to remember her until she has to treat Zac Mackay, the person she’s been hoping to avoid. Interesting and gripping storyline.

Eagle

Finn Bollinger can’t put the hurt caused by his ex, Charlotte Devereux, behind him so when she turns out to be the educational expert who is meant to help his son with his reading problems, he just sends her packing. He doesn’t know the problems she’s having or much she was depending on this job. Things slowly thaw and Finn’s work starts to get complicated. I really enjoyed the storyline, it was fast paced and interesting. Looking forward to the next one in the series. I voluntarily listened and reviewed an advanced copy of this audiobook. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Second Chance at Love?

Cyclone & Eagle are the first two books in the Linear Tactical series by Janie Crouch. An engaging action packed romp featuring two very different military 'brothers' with tortured pasts finding love and redemption that had me gripped from the start.

What would you sacrifice to get a second chance at love with your soulmate. That is the question facing Zac Mackay and Finn Bollinger when their high school sweethearts walk back into their lives. To get their HEA they will have to face their demons and slay dragons (not really) and it makes for an adrenaline fuelled rollercoaster of a ride for the reader.

Tom Campbell does an excellent job of the narration getting into the psyche of the characters. Bringing to life the people and places and keeping me riveted until the end.

All books in the series can be read as standalones but have interconnected characters that I quickly became invested in. I can't wait to find out what happens to the rest of the guys. I thoroughly recommend this book to all readers who love a steamy romantic suspense featuring hot, hot, hot military men and the brave women who love them.

Romance, Action and Second-Chances

These first two audiobooks in the Linear Tactical series are just what you would expect from Military Romantic Suspense. They have romance and action but also, being set in a small town, they have a bit of small town drama. Both books feature second chance romances as well, though I don't think that is a recurring theme in this series.

Linear Tactical is a company in Wyoming that is owned and run by ex-military men. They train civilians and police on situational awareness and self-protection. These books feature Zac and Finn, two local men, and women they knew in high school. There is a lot that stands between the men, their women and their happily ever afters, including suspense-filled, action packed moments complete with bad guys. Absolutely ticks all the boxes for being military romance escapism!

Tom Campbell does a great job narrating these books. I thoroughly enjoyed them!

Fantastic start to the series!

Cyclone:
After losing his wife and child, Zack never thought he would find love again. Now Anne is back in town and he is thrown off kilter. Anne is the new ER doctor, and does her best to steer clear of Zack, the widow of her best friend. After a romantic night soon after the death of her friend, she and Zack find solace together, but the evening ends badly. She is doing her best to stay out of his way. But when he is constantly putting himself in her path, it’s hard not to take notice. Will these two find their way to a second chance?

Eagle:
Finn and Ethan are a package. Raising his son is his priority and Finn will do anything to help him. When he finds out he is falling behind in his reading, Finn look gets a recommendation for a tutor. Little does he know, it’s his ex-girlfriend Charley. Charley left Finn years ago to marry another man. Now back, working a couple of jobs and trying to get ahead, she is doing her best to make a new life. And our story begins. I am really enjoying this series. Janie Crouch has me on the edge of my seat with suspense and my heart filling with love. Finn is an amazing dad, and that is so attractive. He is protective and loving and it’s easy to see why Charley fell I love with him. Charley is incredible. She is smart, intuitive and loyal to the end. The twists and turns make this ride so exciting and fun and I am looking forward to the next in the series.

Tom Campbell is a new narrator for me, and I really enjoyed his performance. He narrates with expertise and precision. I love his voice, easily fits the story and he finds a rhythm making the listen an enjoyable experience.Good pacing and great voices make his portrayal emotional and exciting.

Hot and action packed

Fantastic start to an action packed and hot series, both stories are about a second chance at love with your soul mate but from 2 very different starting points and have different paths to their HEA's. Both stories have lots of suspense, action, passion and figuring out who the baddies are that have kept me entertained for hours, The narrator has done a fantastic job keeping me clued to the story.

Cyclone & Eagle

Janie Crouch is a new author for me. I love romantic suspense, and I especially love getting two books for the price of one. This audiobook is a great beginning to what I expect will be an exciting series. I loved Zac & Anne's story in Cyclone but then I loved Finn & Charlie's story even more because I already knew most of the characters. I love series that are standalones but with interconnected characters like this one. I can't wait to continue on to the next book to find out Aiden's story. two excellent books

I had originally read the books and now really enjoying the audio versions. Loved getting 2 for 1, great way to get a taste of the series or author.
Cyclone 4.5 stars - great start to the series. Excellent characters that you want more of (I already loved Finn and Ethan).

Eagle 5 stars - Loved Finn and Charlie. Might be tied for my favorite of the series. Love a great second-chance trope.

Narration 4 stars - while I prefer dual narration audiobooks, Tom Campbell did a great job and enjoyed his voice, once you speed it up to at least 1.5x. His female voice sounded more like a whisper but it wasn't something you would stop listening because of it.

great plots

first listen for me and this author. I like the way the plot moves along at a good pace even when introspection is written. there are a few hiccups....the linear team is talked up quite a bit but in both books they were duped fairly easily....which is kinda hard to fathom.
the women are good strong and sensible which suits the alpha boys and there is some good suspense. although you have to ask yourself why the heroine would stop and have a revelation conversation with another when they were on the run, the killer within earshot of catching them. but apart from that..I enjoyed the storylines.
sadly the narrator pulls me to a stop. his voice is pleasant but he's not good at the female part. and while he's good on some dialogue, there are other parts that he is very robotic and his tone and inflections fail dismally.
if only there were dual narrator's it would be a hell yea series to enjoy.
If I go for a solo narrator then I'm really leaning towards female voices as they seem to be able to drop their tone low enough to get away with using a male voice. but the men narrator's I like, especially the deep delicious voices like Aiden Snow or Sebastian York, even Jacob Morgan, a female voice is a bit harder to adapt.
