Publisher's Summary

Atlan Warlord Jorik guards the Coalition Fleet’s Processing Center on Earth, protecting warriors and brides without mercy or distraction...until he sees Gabriela. She is everything the beast within him craves. Soft. Curved. Unafraid. He dreams of courting her properly, wooing her into accepting his beast’s claim, and making her his - body and soul. Danger strikes, and his beast takes control - resulting in his immediate removal from Earth. From Gabriela.

Gabriela fell in love with an alien Warlord who fought to save her life, then disappeared, only to learn he was later killed in a battle with the Hive. She moves on with her life as best she can, with one beautiful reminder of their time together: a baby.

When she learns Jorik isn’t dead, but banished to the Colony, she and the baby are sent to find him. The problem? He’s not just contaminated, he’s been newly matched by the Interstellar Brides Program. And not to her.

Horrendous narration on a lukewarm storyline

The story got off to a really slow start on a very simple story line. A lot of parts of it kind of has you going "No way. That would never happen in real life." and "Why the F**k did they do THAT?". *spoiler* That last statement is referring to Gabriella climbing into a crate on a transport pad to make it easier for the lunatic holding a blaster on her to pack up her lifeless body after she shoots her. I just kept thinking, "WHY???" The entire storyline was really predictable but the narration took it from ok to unbearable. I skimmed thru A LOT of this book because the narration was so bad. The female narrator was blank, unemotional, and kept throwing pauses into the middle of her sentence structure where they didn't belong. She read all the characters in the same voice and way. I was half way torn between trying to figure out if I was listening to a library read or a lecture hall; they both felt the same style as her reading. I got the distinct feeling she was uncomfortable reading the sex scenes. She didn't even show any emotions or enthusiasm during those parts either. The male narrator was a little more emotional but it was hard to follow him. He kept changing up his voices all for the same character. There was no consistency to the character voices at all. When he got excited he sounded like a whiney toddler throwing a fit. He also had a tendency to assume a southern accent for a lot of his characters and was not very good at it. This is coming from someone born and raised in the south. The entire book was just painful to listen to but I kept it up until the end hoping it would get better but it didn't. When I finally did reach the end I was just so relieved it was finally over.

Whining wimpy women

Their self-deprecating mantras are tiresome. “Does he love? How can he love me?” “I’m just... I’m too...boo, ho, hoo” The plot is cobbled together predictably for the most “pity me” effect. However, the narration is very good.

A great story

I'm not sure if it's my Kindle or what but something is wrong with the male narrator voice. It sounded like it has dubbing done. The male's voice changes so many times in one sentence. But the story was great! Happy listening!!!

Love this book

This is my favorite book in this series; the storyline was refreshing different from the other books with lots of drama and extreme situations. Cary’s narration of Jorik was hilarious and on point. Honey was okay but sounded as if she was merely reading at times. This book will go into favorites.

Agonizing!

I was so annoyed by the woman character's issues with self confidence and lack of common sense. Where on this earth would it be safe to raise an alien baby when you don't even know what to expect for his development? I know, too much common sense for a fantasy romance, but there has to be some balance!

Ugh! Stop changing narrators

The man was just passable. He least had some emotion in his dialogue

That woman, or was it a robot. No inflection no emotion. I would never want to hear another book by her. Perhaps if it was a manual telling me how to put something together.

Story was ok. It’s a cookie cutter series so pretty much what I expected. No complaints.

not for me.

got hooked on grace goodwin a while ago and have gone through most of the ones included in the plus catalog so I thought I'd spend a credit and read this one...worst voice actor's yet. both were lack luster and the gentleman kept changing tempo and inflections making it hard to identify who was saying what and was just jarring over all, and up until now I've liked that they've used a variety of narrators but especially since this is a later book and not "included" I'd expect it to be of higher quality than it is. unfortunately, this being a paid audiobook has made me not want to pay/ use credits for anymore.

great fun story but male actor is awful.

enjoyed the twist in the usual format. great story.
but seriously the male actor is horrible to listen to. there are parts that sound dubbed or added after the initial recording and his accents for other characters are painful.

A great story

I really enjoyed listening to this. Cary Hite did a really good job of the Atlantan. overall I have given 5 stars because let's face it grace goodwins books are great but the narrators did a even better job of reading the story
