The woman’s body was found in the early morning, on a bench in a New York City playground. She was clean, her hair neatly arranged, her makeup carefully applied. But other things were very wrong—like the tattoo and piercings, clearly new. The clothes, decades out of date. The fatal wound hidden beneath a ribbon around her neck. And the note: Bad Mommy, written in crayon as if by a child.

Publisher's Summary
New York Times best-selling author Kay Hooper is back with a brand-new, thrilling paranormal suspense novel in the Bishop/Special Crimes Unit series.
The small town of Salem has been quiet for months - or so Bishop and his elite Special Crimes Unit believe. But then Hollis Templeton and Diana Hayes receive a warning in Diana’s eerie “gray time” between the world of the living and the realm of the dead that a twisted killer is stalking Salem, bent on destroying in the most bloody and horrifying way possible the five families that founded the town.
The stakes are high, especially for new friends Nellie Cavendish and Finn Deverell, both members of the Five, and this time Bishop and his wife, Miranda, will lead the team to hunt down a vicious killer and uncover a dark and ancient curse haunting Salem.

Death By Narration
I love Kay Hooper's Bishop Crime Novels, that being said, I'm sorry but this is some of the worst narration I have ever heard. It made it completely impossible to enjoy the story. I had to get my credit back. Her voice just isn't pleasant to listen to, and it was more like she was reading the words. The worst is when she tries to change her voice when narrating the parts of a male, very poorly done. Don't waste your money! I don't know who decides who narrates these books, but maybe they should not be the one who chooses. Do yourself a favor and buy the actual book!

Ok I absolutely love Kay Hoopers story lines and the psychic/mystery books. I narrator took so much AWAY from this book. The characters where hard to distinguish because every character sounded so similar. Please hire a couple of people for the next book. I think I have read every Kay Hooper book in print I am kinda pissed I didn’t get to fully enjoy because of this.

Excellent conclusion to Salem story
I really enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator is excellent and adds to the strength of the story. This book continues/finishes a Salem story that was presented in an earlier book. I really liked the Salem characters from the earlier book and was glad they continued in this one. Bishop, Miranda, and 4 agents that are familiar to us from other books are part of the plot.

Nellie Cavendish has very good reasons to seek out her roots-and not only because she has no memory of her mother, and hardly knew the father who left her upbringing to paid caregivers. In the eight years since her 21st birthday, very odd things have begun to happen. Crows gather near her wherever she goes, electronics short out when she touches them, and when she's upset, really upset, it storms. At first, she chalked up the unusual happenings to coincidence, but that explanation doesn't begin to cover the vivid nightmares that torment her.
