And the note: Bad Mommy, written in crayon as if by a child.

Incredible
When I first saw the cutesy title I wasn't too sure if I was making the correct choice. Since I have loved mystery stories beginning with Nancy Drew that are solved by women I continued with my purchase. "Dixie Hemingway" is one heck of a crime solver. I cannot wait for future books. I am hooked. Oh, and despite the cute title, it's a rather dark mystery at times.

Hometown places made it fun
Living in Sarasota made listening to this book extra nice. It was a gripping story but light, like the "Alphabet" murder books of Sue Grafton. The book went far too fast. I am sorry that the author, Blaize Clement, died this summer. I hope Audible will record more of her books.

A light read that was well read
I can't tolerate poor narration, formula romance or bad writing so it is hard to find a murder mystery with minimum foreboding, gore and disgusting details that isn't insipid and/or boring. This book had interesting characters, their back stories were revealed nicely, the narration was good, there was a plot (and murder) but it wasn't "heavy". It's also hard to find a good book with a pink cover.

Surprisingly Good!
This is my first Blaize Clement book, and when it first started (the first murder was so bizarre), I thought, "Oh, no, I've done it again" (some of my choices lately have not been that great), but as I continued to listen I actually found myself enjoying it.
It's a light mystery with a surprising ending. Julie Gibson reads well and has a pleasant voice.
I appreciate Audible having these sales, as it gives us an opportunity to listen to different authors/books we may not have wanted to take a chance on otherwise, not wanting to waste a credit.

A Fun Trip Back
Where does Curiosity Killed the Cat Sitter rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Hard to say but a really pleasant read.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the years I lived in Sarasota! This was like a trip down memory lane for me. I loved following along the roads I knew so well. I had a Siamese cat from Nokomis who had kittens, one of whom was named Ghost by my friend in Tampa who adopted her, so I found it funny there was a cat with the same name.
What about Julia Gibson’s performance did you like?
Great voice for the characters. Can't imagine anyone doing it better.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Crime wave in Sarasota, Florida!!
Seriously, one book has more crime than the average year in Sarasota, Siesta Key hardly had enough going on to make the Herald.
Any additional comments?
Why isn't the whole series in audible format? It should be. I'm having to download the rest to Kindle and actually wear out my eyes reading.

Light but interesting, well written, entertaining
I am so glad to have found another series that is just what I look for when listening to books. Entertainment with some mystery but not gruesome and always a bit of humour without being silly. I am looking forward to the next books.

Delightful departure from heavy literature
A fun entrance into a geographical area and career far different from my own, Clement creates a protagonist and cast of characters who are quirky, smart, and full of unforeseen layers. When one needs a digression from "real life" (at least for most of us), this could be it. I will add that the final solution is quite dark, and readers with delicate sensibilities may not enjoy what they find here. For myself, I've just downloaded the sequel!

Excellent story
Julia Gibson is perfect as Dixie Hemingway. She doesn't let you down if you have read the book before and formed a picture in your mind as to how Dixie would sound. Blaize Clement is an outstanding author. These books have deep characters with many layers to them. You come to care about these people and what happens to them. I'm in love with this series.
