Profound Ideas but....

Won't say this is a great piece. But a good start particularly if you're just entering into the space of Corporate Culture. It spells out the basics but the idea of positioning the ideas as absolute is pushing things far. At the minimum, it's more of an opinion (of the author and the CEOs he interviewed) and not a research. So the ideas are profound, but they shouldn't be positioned as do or die practice.

Too religious

This book is too religious for my liking. It might have some good points but religion only causes problems.

You can get the same information from better sources

It’s fine. Good read, but falls into the work should be your friends and family trap, and relies on some outdated, internal hiring non-sense which isn’t so much insight as much as it is something called connections. “I hired my son and my son’s friend and we worked together great.” No Duh. It’s kind of oblivious to it’s own biases and prejudices that in a modern and global world shows its own hand. It also calls work your framily unironically.

Again you can get the same info from other better, less we’re a big happy family sources. I recommend anything from Google.

Practical Wisdom

Just finished Culture Wins by William Vanderbloemen. Fantastic practical wisdom. I wish I'd have had this resource 30 years ago. "Even when it's bad, culture wins". I implemented practices from this book on day 1 after reading. If you lead ANY team this book will help you.

Culture wins!

Very true. Culture wins. It must built and nurtured intentionally. New hires must demonstrate as close a cultural fit as possible otherwise they won’t blend in. It’s also true that culture evolves. Thanks for bringing out key lessons about creating a great organizational culture and a great working environment.

Different angle on work environment

Ending is a bit repetitive but the book is overall a great read. It does put the overall work culture into perspective and shows how some small looking things can result in losing money and control of company.

overly simplistic

I didn't find anything in this book that was new or inspiring. other books in this genre are more compelling
