Story
Steve doesn’t care who he was. He knows more than enough to realize it doesn’t matter at all. Now living in what had once been the Creeplands and maintaining a thriving farm there, they are under constant siege from the Creep itself. It's still better than life in Lamals. And that’s just how it is. After taking over the Citadel, removing Lynn from her place of power, stopping the Creep’s advance, and starting to take over part of the Creeplands, he was certainly making a difference for himself, humans, and men everywhere.

Story
Ash led a very normal life by his own standards. Right up until he was literally pulled into a portal that spat him out into another world. One that was full of martial arts. And martial artists who could use magic. Three years of living his life as one of the citizens, those without power, and Ash has figured out how to survive with his adoptive family and a lot of persistence. His goals in life have become to give back to those who gave to him. And he’d do whatever he had to to do that. Except Ash is about to get his life turned around again.

Sebastian Frost was a man with an interesting reputation. He’d killed 12 giants, eight heroes, a duke, and even a prince. But nobody ever talked about any of that. All they talked about was the deviant, disgusting, detestable Herald of Shalia that shamelessly laid with elves. That was because in the strange world based on game mechanics Frost found himself in, laying with elves was somehow treated like laying with animals. Naturally, they weren’t calling him Herald Frost the giant killer....

Memories of Earth, and of disappointing his family barely seem real anymore. But even without the occasional voice in his head, Trav knows he’s different. A vast amount of rune crafting knowledge has mysteriously taken up residence in his mind; too bad he doesn’t have any mystical power. If he could find a way to actually use any rune magic, his situation could change.

Breck was a heavy metal rock star and to some, perhaps, even a rock god. Playing bass since he was 10, he learned to sing and write music under the tutelage of some of the industry's best. His band was one of the loudest and heaviest out there, and they had moved from one hit record to the next with ease. Married to a supermodel and being at the top of the rock star pyramid, life for Breck was everything he'd ever wanted it to be.

Warner spent his days like almost anyone else. He got up, went to work, answered phone calls in a call center, went home, spent time with his daughter, and went to sleep. Only to repeat the pattern over and over and over. Life was as mundane as anyone could ever fear it to be. Today was the day that all that would change. On this day, his daughter Maya would be nearly fatally injured, plunging Warner into a world of paranormal creatures, monsters, and magic he’d never known existed. The only consolation is that he discovers he’s not quite human, either.

Can't win for losin'...As any gambler will tell you, luck runs hot and cold. For my many sins I've been forced to scrape a life out of poker games and side-jobs on the fringes of civil society. I thought I hit it big when I raked 50-grand off the table at a roadhouse in Texas. It is amazing what a win can cost you. Now, on the run from a drug cartel headed by an unstoppable juggernaut, pursued by a shape-shifting killer, and framed for attempted murder, I have to protect a girl with a bounty on her head.

Publisher's Summary
Ash’s life is anything but normal these days.
Having unlocked his Dantian, he’s grown in power. Grown to the point where he has others who depend on him for that power.
In this world of martial arts, only the strong and the ruthless survive.
Everyone else is merely a stepping stone on their path of Cultivation, or an obstacle to be overcome.
Or knock down.
A world where the strong rule, and the weak die.
Utilizing the Hall, the voice in his head that calls itself Locke, and all the powers available to him, Ash has begun his own journey of Cultivation.
Except that as a Fated One, his journey is a narrow and winding path between two cosmic forces. Each one vying for dominance.
And that has nothing to do with what Locke has planned for him.
This is his second step in his life as a Cultivator. Overcoming his first tribulation, and solidifying his Dantian.
This is a VeilVerse novel.
Warning and minor spoiler: This novel contains graphic violence, undefined relationships/a full harem, unconventional opinions/beliefs, and a hero who is tactful as a dog at a cat show. Listen at your own risk.

From okay in book 1 to terrible in book 2
I don't mind romance or harem side plots, but four hours in and the only things we've done is talk about his stupid harem politics and how unhappy with his life he is. He just whines while changing nothing, idk if I'll be able to finish this book but if I do ill update my review.

A shame
First book we had everything that i want in a cultivator novel with a focus on growing stronger and a good growing harem. With the seccond book we got close to ZERO focus on growing stronger to the worst harem Willam/randi has written ever. Every bad habit that Willam writes is in this book to growing the harem to big to fast and making his lead male a worthless piece of thrash.... I had some high hopes that he would have focused on the male lead increasing his worth/strength for once but i lost count on how many times he was carried/blackedout and or where just plain stupid. This is like dungeon depost all over again with a super good starting book to an absolute snorr for the seccond one. I hope book 3 will be alot better, I forced myself through the last 4 hours altough the first hours in the book was pretty great

To many fan boys reviews
I have no problem with harems but I have problem with unrealistic main character who blushes and tries to "run" from it, with the main character personality being a carbon copy of other main characters written by author. This book is mostly about the harem and the talk about it and the main character refusing but then the femdom comes to play, all the play sex, fondling is all initiated by the women.. The author takes a liking to bash cultivation tropes I have no problem with that, most are dumb and racist. but using the tropes he tries to make a "more sensible character" but while bashing those tropes. but the personality of the main character fails a bot in that role. I do like the combat and fights but overall there is little of that... to bad.

oh boy
First time in 9 years posting, I am giving a 1 star. I try to buy any Wuxia or Xianxia progression style fantasy that hits audible. This book in my mind was written in a manner my 13 year old might find entertaining, however with the explicit poorly constructed harem themes, etc. obviously many of the reviewers loved this book. However I dont get it. Out of the last 100 or so Wuxia / Xianxia / progression fantasy books I have read or listened to. Maybe there was one I disliked more, however non come to mind. Maybe in my youth, if I played a drinking game for the amount of time "chosen one" had been said. Maybe... I would have been given a better rating provided I was smashed doing so.

quantity over quantity, too many bland girls
the only memorable girl was jia, and she wasn't really allowed to rejoin the story until like half way though the book. I didnt even remember who mei was yet the story seemed to give her preference, and this book ads even more girls to the harem. the harem aspect of this story could use some quality control there's also the fact that the actual cultivation aspect seems to have taken a back seat as none of the characters train/cultivate like they had in the first book.

Getting worse
MC is even more whinny and goes to any lengths to not enjoy women who loves him. Its just stupid. You are put in an alternative violent world and you can die anytime and you won't enjoy yourself. Yeah, not plausible. Almost no cultivation. Its just a stream of random events. There is no time for downtime, character development or real integrations between characters. Not the best.

fallen into his usual way
the first book was good while it has the usual group of female characters ash kept on pushing towards his goals and for the most part his followers actually enhanced the story but no more this has now become a clone of any other his books the storys has gone and its judy issues that keep coming up related to his women who have now become overbearing with there need for attention and ash has devolved into a whiney angry pathetic shadow of who he was in book one I liked the other veil verse books but well done I now have no interest with them for fear that when they eventually collide you will ruin them too

William and Andrea killing it again!
Another great book from William D Atrand with stellar narration from Andrea. The author nails everything he turns his hand too. I love the transparency of his character growth. Plenty of action and harem as always with unexpected twists and turns along the way.
