Publisher's Summary

Battle-hardened soldier Cruz Ramos is running on empty. As second-in-command of the deadliest commando squad fighting the invading aliens, he doesn't know why he's fighting anymore. He's seen too much destruction, devastation, and far too much death. Still, every day he goes out to protect those humans left, and every day the growing numbness threatens to take over.

Until a mysterious woman emerges from the ruins of destroyed Sydney and saves him from a pack of rampaging aliens.

Santha Kade has one goal: revenge. The raptors who have devastated the Earth have taken everything from her: her team, her home, her beloved sister. Santha - a former police officer - has spent a year alone in the ruined city, waging her own guerrilla war. Sure, she might get lonely sometimes, but she doesn't have room for anything but vengeance. Not even for a sexy soldier with liquid brown eyes, a bone-melting accent, and a face designed to drive a woman wild.

But as Cruz and Santha join forces to rescue human hostages from the aliens, their explosive attraction is impossible to resist. Can these two warriors survive long enough to find something worth living for?

Fast Paced And Action Packed!

Anna Hackett's Hell Squad series may be on the shorter side but each story is packed full of action, dual POV's, and strong female characters in world that has been invaded by aliens. The second book in the series is about Santha and Cruz who have both seen destruction, death and still carry on humanities goal to fight, survive and to defeat the aliens invaders. After losing her sister, Santha has been a loner on a path seeking revenge and to find the alien who killed her sister. She ends of teaming up with Hell Squad and working closely with Cruz to find hostage, and rescue them. What she and Cruz finds is more devastating, and heart breaking then what they could have imagined. Each mission they go on brings them closer to danger, and there are a few intense moments when they fight the enemy, and locate the humans. Santha and Cruz form a bond, and find solace in each other, and a reason to continue to fight and live.

As previously mentioned, these stories are on the shorter side; however, the fight scenes, sex scenes, and missions are developed enough to satisfy the listener, but aren't emotionally draining. The scenes can go from intense to steamy in a blink of an eye. There are a few heartbreaking moments, as well as a few heartwarming moments, but overall a good audio that is well narrated.

WOW

Let me start by saying I just love this series! Plenty of action with some very steamy scenes thrown in at all the right places. The stories are fast paced and absorbing with Ms. Hackett adding layers in each book of character development and complexity (so there is a strong listen in order recommendation). Jeffrey Kafer and Samantha Cook do an awesome job brining the character to life and filling the pictures in your head with details of the action with the skill of great narrators.
Word of warning: Once you get started, this series is hard to put down

Enjoy!

Great series

BOOK REVIEW.......Cruz and Santha are two of my favorite characters of the series. I loved how lost to the point of being ready to give up Cruz was until Santha came into the picture. I'm a sucker for the whole love of a good woman saving the lost hero type story. Santha is a great character. She's tough, bad ass take no prisoners woman.

Cruz and Santha make a hot sounding couple. The chemistry and dialogue between them is sassy. witty, steamy, electric and so very sexy hot. Their story is fast paced and very well thought out. There was however a lot of grammar errors and repeated words. Which did get a bit annoying but in no way took away from the story.

I would recommend this book and series to anyone looking for a good alien story to read.

Fabulous story

Cruz is suave with a great accent. I wasn’t sure I would like this series but I have to say it is definitely worth the listen. The story is well written and narrated. It has action, suspense, intrigue, adventure and Hot Romance. The narrator’s do a fabulous job with the characters and voices of each. I think I have found two more narrator’s to add to my list of favorites.

Santha is a warrior

Loved Cruz and Santha. My only issue was actually with the narration - the female narrator's "accent" for Cruz was inconsistent and mostly sounded more Russian than latin. Detracted from enjoyment of the read but the story was still good

Will Cruz convince Santha there’s more to life that revenge?

Cruz is the second book in the Hell Squad series. Cruz can’t help but be drawn to Santha’s passion and warrior attitude, but she’s used to working alone and has revenge on her mind. As they join forces to rescue humans from the alien invaders, will Cruz convince Santha there’s more to life than just revenge? Oh, every time I experience this book, my heart is hooked right from the beginning and I can’t help but fall in love with Cruz and Santha! They have so much fight and they prove that there’s so much to fight for! Cruz is brave and such a protector, has a lot of pain from his past, but also has so much love to give. Santha is absolutely perfect for him, as she’s also so courageous and a natural protector, and I love that they help heal each other’s hearts. They have passion, but they also have a true connection that you can feel from the pages and from the narrators. Mr. Kafer and Ms. Cook did a fantastic job bringing the characters and emotions to life, and I felt like I was right there with Cruz and Santha, with all they were experiencing. I cried, I swooned, I was sitting on the edge of my seat, and I loved every second being a part of this book and this series!

Love strong, kickass female characters

I love when they have strong female characters who are mature without being TSTL characters. This was just right. Add Cruz to the mix and this was a great story line with strong characters. Jeffrey Kafer really adds a lot but Samantha Cook is not my favorite for reading action or male narrations. She has a very sweet voice and this was the wrong genre/story for her.

Its a Hell Squad classic

The story itself is imaginative and fast paced, but the narrators really needed to communicate with each other prior to recording. Samantha Cook gave Cruz and another character their charming accents, but Jeffrey Kafer did not. It just seemed jarring to my ears. Beyond that, they gave darn good performances and brought these wonderful characters to life.

Quick Entertaining Listen

The narrators did a good job. This was a quick entertaining listen. The world building was easy to follow and the characters main and secondary were enjoyable. I enjoyed the storyline and look forward to listening to more in the series.

Love amidst an Alien Apocalypse

Book two of Hell Squad continues the story of second in command Cruz and his feelings for rebel fighter Santha. This book is again brought to life by the awesome narration of Jeffrey Kafer and Samantha Cook Can two broken people find love amidst an alien invasion? Of course they can but the road to true love never runs smoothly and this love story is no exception. Our couple suffer every step of the way. There is toe curling cruelty, some laughter and many tears before they find their HEA. The attraction between these two battle hardened warriors if off the charts and we are treated to some seriously hot sexual situations. We also get more glimpses into possible future relationships yet to be revealed.  ⚠ WARNING! This book is not for the faint hearted. Read/Listen to it with a box of tissues at hand and maybe a strong drink. It is one roller-coaster of a ride but oh so worth it. Recommended to everyone who loves a hot action packed romance with aliens. I have already bought the audio for the next in the series featuring super soldier Gabe.
