Publisher's Summary

Bloomsbury presents Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, read by Elizabeth Evans.

The action-packed, heart-wrenching and fantastically addictive sequel to Sarah J. Maas's epic YA fantasy debut Throne of Glass

Eighteen-year-old Celaena Sardothien is bold, daring and beautiful - the perfect seductress and the greatest assassin her world has ever known. But though she won the king’s contest and became his champion, Celaena has been granted neither her liberty nor the freedom to follow her heart. Celaena faces a choice that is tearing her to pieces: kill in cold blood for a man she hates or risk sentencing those she loves to death. Celaena must decide what she will fight for: survival, love or the future of a kingdom. Because an assassin cannot have it all.... And trying to may just destroy her.

Predictable

I originally started this series based on the cover saying something like, “fans of Game of Thrones will enjoy”, this series is not comparable to Game of Thrones. Very juvenile and predictable so far, and this “assassin” is a whiny teenager girl. It’s not terrible and I’m somewhat curious about what will happen so I’m going to continue on to the next one. It’s like one of those terrible movies you can’t stop watching, you know what’s going to happen, but you still have to watch.. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Simply Amazing

After physically reading the novellas in Assassins Blade as well as the first book Throne of Glass I stumbled upon this Audio version of book two and in my haste to find out what happens next decided to listen instead of read. Let me just say. IT. WAS. EXCEPTIONAL!! Experiencing such intricate stories, plot twists and developments from such a talented writer through audio?? I’m never going back to traditional reading after this. I must say 10/10 Fully Recommend!

Too much

I am all for light and easy fantasy books, but this series is absurd. The story just drags with too much seudo-drama. I am done at book 2.

Growing expectations met with every chapter

When I began the first installment of the series I was intrigued by the author but thrown by the readers intonation and seeming lack luster enthusiasm toward the story itself. After finishing this sequel the reader has seemed to grow fervently in the story telling matching the intensity brewing in the story. I’m along for the ride and can’t wait to dive into the next book.

I loved this book!

This book was fabulous! Celaena is Fae? And Ailin? And Chaol, she broke with Chaol during this book, after Nehemia was killed. She's on her way to Wendlin now, so I need to read the next book soon!

Stick with it!!!!

I wasn’t sold by the first book. I had to rewind and go back so many times because I zoned out. But then, something clicked and shifted in me and I was ravenous for more. Once again, SJM delivers, and smashes it out of the park with twists and turns that are unexpected. How one being could procure such wonderful stories is beyond me. I HAVE to keep reading.

I knew what was coming.

I knew what was coming. BUT I WAS NOT READY. Already starting the next in the series. This is when everyone says it gets good, I agree.
