Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Kerrelyn Sparks delivers the exciting conclusion in the Love at Stake series, where a Marine-turned-vampire finds love with the shifter princess forbidden to him.

Russell wakes from a coma to find he's become a vampire. Now he has a thirst for revenge. Determined to hunt down the master vampire who turned him, he's used to working alone - until he meets Jia. She is after the same vampire for murdering her parents and insists she can help Russell on this mission. Reluctantly, he agrees, and sets up some ground rules:

Rule #1: Their partnership is strictly business. If he holds her a little too close - if she looks at him with those exotic eyes - well, that has to stop.

Rule #2: He's in charge. Jia isn't used to taking orders and questions every move he makes. So he stops her the only way he knows how.

Rule #3: Don't fall in love. But the kiss that was supposed to quiet her awakens something else in him - something forbidden. Because Jia is engaged. To someone else.

Sad to see it go!

Audio Rating: 3.50 (not part of the overall rating)

First Thought when Finished: Crouching Tiger,Forbidden Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks was a beautifully written and fantastically FUN send off to a series that has made me smile many times over the last few years. Russell and Jia were another great example of love conquering all. While I was sad to see the series come to an end, I was happy with the way it wrapped up and hold out hope that some day we may see characters from this world again.

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Enrique Morales / Length: 9 hrs and 2 mins

Enrique did an EXCELLENT job with the pacing and Russell's voice. In fact, I liked the slight cowboy drawl a whole bunch. The other accents were handled with great care too. Jia's voice took a bit to get used too but once that happened I was totally on board with this audiobook. Overall a downright pretty good job!

Wonderful series

I totally enjoy each book in the series. I enjoy how each book intertwines and you learn more about the characters throughout the series!
They certainly have a lot of humor in them too.
I wish the author would have use the same narrator through out all her books.

Not my favorite

Just okay. I really wanted to see Russell happy, but this was my least favorite of the series. The narrator may have had something to do with it to. I don't recall ever getting irritated by the narration of any of the other stories in this series. This time it seemed like the characters were either spot on or annoying.

Love love loved it!!

I loved the story but was thrown by the male narrator. Guess I'm used to the female readers. So glad to revisit all the characters.

So many "old friends"in this one

She does a nice job of writing in some of our favorite friends from this world. Great plot twist I did not see coming with Master Hon. No wimpy women.

Same old story

It's to move on from this series of books
The books are the same story over and over again, just changing the characters.
The author needs to find another series to write about, because I will not buy any more of old series and I sure I am not the only one.
