From Jack Schaefer, the author of Shane, comes Company of Cowards. This is the story of eight civil war soldiers, court-martialed and convicted of cowardice. The military gives the men a second chance and they form a ragtag group, Company Q. Shunned by their colleagues, Company Q is ordered to the western frontier and, in an exciting conclusion, given a chance to reclaim their self-respect by capturing a strategic hill from a group Indian warriors. An action-packed tale of adventure and redemption from one of the masters of the classic western novel.

The story is much like some of the unrealistic TV westerns from the late 50s and 60s. Too much taking the Lord name in vain for me. What’s the story lacked in quality seemed like the author tried to make up for with profanity.
