Experience the gripping account of the events that shaped the destiny of Pat Tillman and his fellow Rangers in Afghanistan. Ride along with the Rangers of 2nd Platoon as “Common Sense Leadership Matters” takes you on an unforgettable leadership journey to reveal the shocking truth that up until the publishing of this book was hidden from the family, the Rangers of 2nd Platoon, and the world.

A great addition to the life legacy of Pat Tillman would be that the lessons learned from this incident would be shared and passed on for many generations to come. And that ten, twenty, and even fifty years from now, future leaders will continue to build on and add to his legacy when they apply what they learned to their own life-or-death survival situations and proclaim: “Pat Tillman saved my life last night.” A lofty aspiration for sure, yet one that makes the sacrifices and effort needed to accomplish it even more worthwhile.

This book should be on every branch’s reading list of the DoD - especially the officer corps. Although militarily-focused, this is relatable to business and all other aspects where leaders must make decisions that influence other people’s lives.

Required Reading for all Leaders

Thoughtful and engaging. Sometimes great lessons can be learned through tragedy. Well done and gripping.

Common sense

The author did an amazing job of walking the reader through the critical importance of leadership and the tragic consequences of failure. Being a retired US Army officer with 22 years active duty service, I am sickened by the fact that senior Army Field Grade and General Officers chose to simply look the other way while forming a false narrative that only served their careers. All while leaving a grieving family with questions only an objective observer could answer. I highly recommend this book to anyone who truly seeks the importance of effective leadership.

Major Lesson Learned

Good book but virtual voice is the worst. Info is interesting but the presentation of it in virtual voice really takes away from the story.

Good book bad narration

This is a good book with a lot of background on brain science relative to the events. The virtual narration really kills the experience, though. I could be OK with mispronounced names but the inflection and stresses in sentences are the real killer. sometimes there is a pause inside a two word term, sometimes just a pause where it does not belong. Not only virtually narrated but also there is no voice editing, or any human in the loop, clearly.

the narration really kills a solid book
