A beautiful and relatable story

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Pete’s story. The fact that he narrates the audiobook makes it more hilarious, sincere, and moving. His story serves as a reminder that we all should be in search of truth...no matter how different our individual paths.

Amazing insight told with authenticity and humour.

I grew up in the evangelical church and went through the exact same evolution and transform that Pete did. This was such an amazing book that put words to my journey and introduced me to new ways of seeing and being. The audiobook is so perfect because you feel like Pete is talking with you. Like you are participating in an experience rather than just reading words on a page. His humour and style is playful yet deep. I absolutely loved this book and plan on reading it again. If you want to grow in your understand of the divine mystery we are all born into, then get this book and listen to it ASAP.

Love you Petey, but would have liked more

Great book and love that it was written and published. It often felt like a quick summary more than a memoir. By the way Pete talked about it on the podcast I was expecting more, but seems like less. Maybe he felt he’d shared so much in the podcasts that this was a good way to put his life out in a consolidated timeline instead of his full story. For instance he describes his family and a few interactions but not to the extent that you can get to know them or him. Like saying someone is nice and sharing a story about how they always sat next to you a lunch. The story proves they were nice but they just end up being a one dimensional character in the overall story.

Love the book recommendations at the end. I wish Pete had talked more about his ahha moments with Rob Bell and Richard Rohr.

Funny and spiritual

I was expecting his comedy and did laugh out loud a bunch. What I didn’t expect was the spiritual turn it took and then kind of plateaued there. That being said, beautiful and interesting perspective on spirituality. I wasn’t expecting such thought provoking insight from a comedian’s book

I love this book and Pete Holmes! He is intelligent, funny, open minded, honest, kind, enlightened and a wonderful narrator.

Pete Holmes tricked me!

This book started off as a standard very funny book about a comedian and ended as a cool spiritual journey told in a very funny way. Great book. Book is way better than the title!
