Publisher's Summary

The ultimate cure that could heal any disease? Crazy.

That's exactly what research scientist Marian Creighton has always believed about her father's quest, even if it does stem from a desire to save her sister Ellen from the genetic disease that stole their mother from them. But when her father falls into a coma after drinking a vial of holy water believed to contain traces of residue from the Tree of Life, Marian must question all of her assumptions. He's left behind tantalizing clues that suggest he's crossed back in time. Insane. Until Marian tests his theories and finds herself in the Middle Ages during a dangerous peasant uprising.

William Durham, a valiant knight comes to Marian's rescue and offers her protection...as his wife. The longer Marian stays in the past, the more she cares about William. Can she ever find her father and make it back to the present to heal her sister? And when the time comes to leave, will she want to?

A well constructed time-travel

It’s a story for smart people. There’s very little fluff. It is delivered from a very scientific viewpoint by the author. The characters are well constructed. Usually with time travels I get so involved in the past that I don’t want the characters to return to the future but in this case I liked the past and future characters! It was a very interesting read almost more of a scientific mystery than a true romance, although there is a happily ever after!

A believable time travel romance

I loved this book. Loved it. The "science" behind the time travel is plausible. I appreciated how the author wove the story around actual historical events without making them the central part of plot. The Christian theme was not overt and the main characters were not sugary or perfect. They were human with all that entails. If you like Lynn Kurland's time travel novels, you will like this series. In my opinion, this series resembles her books more than the Outlander series some have compared it to. (This is clean.) I can't wait for the next book! (Sarah Zimmerman is a fantastic dramatic reader as well!)

Come Back to Me

This story was very well done! It was excellent! It had captured me. I wasn’t so sure that I would enjoy a book about going back in Time, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is well written.

Great concept but lots of flaws

So I will start with saying I absolutely love time travel stories. This one has an interesting twist on the theme, but quite irritating in many ways. First of all the lead character is supposed to be an extremely well educated scientist yet she is so shocked by the differences in male and female roles in the past, as if she has no education or knowledge at all. Second, There are religious undertones throughout the book, especially toward the end, but I wouldn’t say that this necessarily qualifies as Christian fiction. Perhaps that’s why the author decided to paint this lead character as a ridiculous prude. I don’t prefer books that have steamy scenes, but the lead character’s attitude toward intimacy with the man she’s in love with is somewhat absurd. Third, there are all kinds of situations that don’t make any sense as far as the time travel continuum is concerned. The lead character goes back in time a year before her father in order to save her father, yet that completely gets forgotten and all of the exchange takes place between the present and the past, And it becomes clear that her actions do nothing to change the outcomes for her father. I like that the author made this effort to construct an interesting story in this genre, but there are lots of flaws.

Intertwined genres

It's been awhile since I cared enough to write a review. With that being said, J. Hedlund has done a superb job in intertwining genres. Come back to me brings you historical romance, time travel, suspense with a touch of historical facts. Narration by S. Zimmerman is exceptional as always.

Loved the imaginative story!

Jody Hedlund is a spectacular storyteller! This was so creative and pulled you along from one era to another.

My only frustration with it is the lady reading it. She has an annoying airy up-lilt at nearly the end of every sentence and sometimes every other word. Listening at the 1.2x speed helped disguise her annoying word lilting. The story is worth listening too!
