Publisher's Summary

Women haven't been hired to work in my bar for a reason: they're too tempting and too distracting - too much of a liability - even if they are good for business....

That's why I shocked myself by hiring Avery Cole. She's young, carefree, and happy - a beautiful distraction. When she's around, the devastation of my past gets buried under layers of lust and desire...hints of a life I once lived but have completely given up on. I've already had my love and now that's gone; there's no need to try again. Even if love is staring me right in the face with a pair of deep brown eyes and no expectations.

What can I say about Shaw O'Sullivan? He's rude, abrasive, sexy - and my boss. He's also broken in ways I would never have seen if I hadn't been looking. Which means he should be off limits; my heart and body cannot handle his baggage. I'm on a quest to find myself, and Shaw O'Sullivan will only get in my way and drag me down.

Where I'm light, he's dark. We don't mix and neither of us is looking for love, so what happens when it finds us anyway?

Contains mature themes.

Swoon Worthy

This story is truly swoon worthy..
Characters.... well developed and so relatable..... Avery and Shaw have a love to fight for.
Story... if you are into love stories just purely devoted to the development of a not supposed to work relationship then you have it here. no big bad wolf to put a whole lot of focus on... mainly them and the flourishing love.
Narration... both Male and female narrators (I dont remember their names) are hands down my new favs. I just adore them so much especially the voice of Avery... it's so bad I'll listen to book they narrate even if I'm not interested in the genre lol. Worth the credit or purchase... This story is for true romance geeks.

Great story

Now I want to go to New Orleans and it would be awesome if I could drink at Shaw’s bar and have Avery serve me dinner too. I wanna take a cooking class at Lizzie’s. It’s a great book that makes you want the setting to be real! I loved this story. It’s emotional and heart-felt. I can’t wait for more in this series.

I loved the male narrator, he’s fantastic and I’ll be looking for more from him!

Dramatic story about starting over

This is a pretty intense story. Both the H and h have heavy issues they struggle with and they must travel their own paths before they can be together. The story begins with a powerful prologue and makes us love Avery right away. She's starting over from scratch but she's optimistic. Shaw on the other hand has kind of given up on happiness. She's 23, he's 38. She's young and enthusiastic; he's broody, grieving and his life is stagnant. But their irrepressible attraction to each other spurs them to face their demons and reconcile their pasts with their futures. This story is set in New Orleans so there are vibrant and fun elements to enjoy, as well as some likable supporting characters some of whom recur throughout the series.
In this case I preferred the ebook to the audio. The female narrator just didn't capture Avery the way I wanted to hear her. But either way, this is a compelling story, so if you want a romance book that will take you on an emotional ride with characters that you can't help but love, in a unique setting, this is a good one.

Great story

I absolutely loved this story!! The male voice is fantastic Mr Summerer has a very sexy voice!! The female voice is irritating. She is kind of robotic with very little inflection. Would have been better with a different female voice but overall I loved the book and will listen to the next on.

Little too long but good

This story was good but a little too long. I skipped some parts because the story was slow and boring. The performance was good. However, it took me halfway to get used to the female. Her reading style was annoying at the beginning. All in all, I highly recommend.

Long

it was ok. I found it to be unnecessarily long, although I love long listens, but this story just seemed to drag on. Narrators were awesome.
