Publisher's summary

Reaper. Fang. Caine....

An alias for each life lived.

Government operative turned assassin, Wolf, had lived in the shadows until a secret cabal forced him into the light. The last thing Wolf needed was a confrontation with what—and who—he’d left behind. Now there’s no going back.

Agent. Torturer. Killer....

An identity fueled by pain.

Growing a conscience had not been part of the plan, but what did Wolf expect after letting certain annoying do-gooders into his life? If having to endure a season of Christmas cheer wasn’t bad enough, Wolf accepts an invitation to spend the blasted holiday with the biggest do-gooder of all, Sean Belmonte, his dead partner’s brother.

Sean has no idea what prompted him to ask the mysterious Englishman over for Christmas, but as soon as the handsome wolf Therian walks through his door, Sean is captivated. He’s never met anyone like Caine. The more time they spend together, the more obvious their attraction becomes. Can Sean get Caine to let down his guard? One thing’s for sure. It’ll be a Christmas neither of them will soon forget.

Short but Fun

I enjoyed this story for what it was, and Gary Furlong did an amazing job as always. But I feel like the ending came far too quickly, and not just because I didn’t want it to end. This was a novella, so going in I knew that we wouldn’t be able to dive into Wolf’s story like we have with Dex/Sloan or even Seb/Hudson. But Wolf is such a complex character that I feel his and Sean’s story deserved more time to explore. It felt like an 8 hour book was shoved into under 2. Still worth a listen, and definitely worth the price, but I can’t help but with there was more.

I want more

We have our first intro to Wolf and Sean's story. A nice tease, can’t wait for their full book coming in book 3.

The best short story

The humor in this is so good! The growly attitude, the blanket hoarding, it's so funny. Gary Furlong is so good here! He's my favorite narrator, I don't think anyone could have pulled this off so well!
