Publisher's summary

As a former member of the United States Secret Service, I'm no stranger to putting my life on the line in the name of duty. Having left the nation's capital to re-settle in Pittsburgh, the skills I acquired during my tenure in Washington have made me a valued member of the team at Jameson Force Security. But when the president comes seeking a favor to protect his niece, I find myself on the fast track back to the Oval Office.

Simply put...she's beyond brilliant. A nationally renowned energy scientist, Barrett Alexander is on the verge of a breakthrough that will change the world. Unfortunately, that has also made her the target of a suspected terrorist cell. And while Barrett doesn't believe she's in any real danger, the president isn't willing to take chances with her life.

As the threats against Barrett become more calculated, I decide taking her on the run is her best chance of survival. Danger, isolation, and attraction ensure we grow closer than I'd ever thought possible. When I realize I want to keep her safe for reasons that have nothing to do with my job and everything to do with the woman I've fallen in love with, no one is safe from the hell I'll rain down on those that threaten her.

Action Filled Romance!

Lots of action and excitement in the newest addition to the Jameson Force Security series. Previous characters from the first book appear, but Code Name: Sentinel can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone.

I really enjoyed this protector/forced proximity romance featuring Cruce and Barrett. They had wonderful chemistry and I loved the build up and tension between them. When things finally boil over with them, it was H-O-T!! I could see many of the scenes playing out in my mind like a movie. Parts of the book were a little predictable and others resolved a little too easily, but it didn't diminish my enjoyment. The epilogue left me with a smile on my face and I'm excited to see that Saint's story is next!

Jason Clarke continues to be one of my very favorite male narrators! He was amazing as Cruce and really embodied the over protective alpha hero so well. I love his range, switching from playful to serious, and also tackling both male and female voices perfectly. Even his British accent as Kynan had me swooning. Lucy Rivers' performance as Barrett unfortunately fell a little flat for me. I have listened to other titles narrated by her, but this time it just didn't work. I found her voice too monotone and her male and female voices were almost the same. When I read the ebook I loved Barrett (even if she does sometimes make some questionable decisions), but I just couldn't get on board with her chapters in the audiobook. Still a compelling and action filled listen, but I enjoyed Cruce's chapters much more.

My dream man is even dreamier with that voice.

At the very basics this is a bodyguard romance novel with sexy times thrown in. However there is just so much more to this!!! Lots of intrigue, even involving the president. I loved that Barrett was smart and sexy. Perfect heroine! Cruce is the perfect alpha male who can still express his inner voice. I loved that we got to hear both sides of the story.

Side note: I got the audio of this and it was amazing. That voice of Cruce.... just made my dream man even more dreamier! Definitely give it a shot!

Another perfect addition to the series!

Code Name: Sentinel is the second book in the Jameson Force Security series by the talented and fabulous Sawyer Bennett. I have read every book of Sawyer's and she never disappoints with the sexiness, humor, foreplay, suspense and lust.

Story:
We met Cruce in Code Name: Genesis and I've been thinking about him since! He's new to the team, but he quickly made friends and works well with the team. He used to be Secret Service and when he gets a call from the president, he doesn’t think twice, he'll do anything he asks. His niece is in danger and she needs protection. She's a brilliant scientist and she's working on a formula that will literally change the world. Cruce is just the man for the job, even if Barrett is sexy, nerdy and beautiful. He'd lay down his life for hers. When he takes her away, just the two of them, she becomes more than a job. She's a woman who he starts to fall for. Barrett isn't sure if it's the circumstances or the man, but she can't seem to stop looking at him. She loves that he makes her stop and enjoy life. But when the danger finds them, will they make it out alive? Will they realize their feelings are real and forever? I’m loving these Jameson Force guys! Cruce is fiercely loyal and takes his job seriously. If I were in trouble, I'd want him at my six. Or, you know, anywhere near me :). Overall, I loved Cruce and Barrett and thought their story was sexy and romantic! I loved the added suspense and seeing some favorites and meeting some new characters. I'm already looking forward to Code Name: Heist.

Audio: I'm a huge fan of Jason Clarke's. His voice always gives me tingles and I love that I never think of another character he's narrated. He was all Cruce. I liked Lucy's voice as the female characters, but I didn't like the voice she used for the men. It just sounded off and weird to me.

A Bodyguard Romance

Cruce Britton epitomizes the qualities of a sentinel, which makes his new assignment - to protect the President’s niece - something that should come easy to him…it’s clear that he’s damn good at putting himself on the line for those who need his protection, but his latest assignment, not only puts his skills to the test, but his will power and his professionalism as well, because while Cruce has always been focused on his career and making as little attachments as necessary, there’s just something about Barrett Alexander, and the fact that he’s protecting her as a personal favor to the President of the United States makes things messy, complicated, and potentially the biggest job and risk of his life.

I enjoyed the fact that Sawyer Bennett created a unique situation to bring Cruce and Barrett together. The reason for the threat against Barrett definitely fits contemporary society because her research as a renowned energy scientist is life altering for the world, so it makes sense that someone would want to steal her work and use it for their own benefit.

Cruce’s refusal to be distracted by feelings for the person he’s protecting logically makes sense, but there’s nothing logical about feelings - they’re messy, they’re overwhelming, and they amp up any situation, and this is exactly what happens the more time he spends with Barrett and the deeper his feelings for the woman he vowed to protect.

Jason Clarke and Lucy Rivers narrate Cruce and Barrett’s, allowing their perspectives to hold all of the characters’ emotions, exuding the push and pull between them as well as the ups and downs that occur as Cruce works to keep Barrett safe while their feelings for each other make everything a bit more difficult. I absolutely loved how Clarke brought Cruce’s character to life; it was sexy, sultry, and seductive, and just how I pictured Cruce’s voice.

I love a good bodyguard romance - they seem to have a perfect blend of suspense, steam, and drama, and Sawyer Bennett’s Code Name: Sentinel definitely fit the bill.

The Narration Threw Me Off!

This is book 2 in the Jameson Force Security series and can absolutely be read as a stand alone although I recommend reading the first book just so you know how the company started and the relationships between characters. This one is about Cruce Britton and Barrett Alexander. Cruce thought he had left Washington behind after leaving the secret service but the president comes asking for a favor-he doesn't feel like he can refuse. Barrett is the leading scientist for clean energy who is on the verge on making a breakthrough that could change the world. But now there are other factions who may want what she has discovered. And it is Cruce's job to keep her safe. And when they realize that they are more than just attracted to each other, he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Cruce and Barret made me laugh right from the start and I loved the banter they have together. Along with the unbelievable chemistry!! She is beyond smart and tends to stay in her own little world while working but Cruce figures out ways to manage that while not making her angry which I really liked. Cruce is this unbelievably protective and yet sweet man and you can't help but like him. Barrett is definitely a braniac but she is still down to earth and likable-which isn't usually the case with people like that. The story itself was beyond great-my only drawback was because I listened to it on audio. The dual narration got to me a bit. Jason Clarke does a great job-I loved his voice and his accent for Kynan was off the charts hot! The problem I had was the going back and forth between him and Lucy Rivers. Her narration for Barrett was great but hearing him and Lucy go back and forth for the male characters (and her difference in accent for Kynan as well) just really bugged me. I had a hard time with listening because of it but pushed through because I was really enjoying the actually the story. Other than that-storyline was great!

Amazing Story. Small issue with Narration

Loved the story. it kept me intrigued the entire time. The male narrator was amazing and kept me engaged. The major issue with the performance is the female narrator. She seemed unnatural and almost robotic. It was worse when she spoke as the male character. It was so distracting that I had to play back several key spots as her voice lulled you in to forgetting you were listening to a novel.

Not my cup of tea

THE STORY:
Basically insta-love, something I'm not a fan of. We get told that they had these deep conversations but I wanted to be there with them. The days flew by, they became closer by hanging out together but I just couldn't feel it. I also couldn't connect to either of the characters because of that. Everything seemed a bit shallow.
Then there was that foreboding when reading/listening to romantic suspense. When it came true (of course it did 🤦‍♀️), it made me so freaking angry and frustrated, which tbh I absolutely hate when reading. I guess book protagonists don't read romantic suspense to know any better lol.

THE NARRATION:
I had some small initial difficulties with Jason Clarke's voice because it was just SO deep and rumbly that I really had to strain to understand what he'd just said lol but I'm 100% sure my foreign ears were at fault. It definitely got better with time until I understood him completely without anymore straining haha so no reduction of stars because of that. I really liked his sexy voice; his narration sounded very natural. Same goes for Lucy Rivers. Very pleasant to listen to even though I have to say that her male voices were a bit cringy.

I know I gave the performance 4 stars and the story 2 stars which SHOULD make my overall rating a 3 but I just couldn't become friends with the story which in the end, had more weight in my decision to rate the book the way I did. This is probably a it's-not-you-it's-me situation so don't let my review keep you too much from listening or reading if you think this might be something you'd enjoy. Sawyer Bennett's writing was, as always, top-notch.

Another great series !

I enjoyed this dual narration story. The delivery brought the story to life. It was intense and suspenseful and I was on the edge of my seat wanting to see what happened after she was kidnapped. #MSBB

If I could get past the narrator

I wish Audible would figure out how to help narrators perform without the reader having to hear every breath and lip snacking. I'd be able to enjoy more books that way

Predicable but still a good storyline

Great story but it’s the same as code name: genesis. I hope the next one in the series is different.

Suspense, action and sexy times

I am loving this new series from Sawyer Bennett. Action, romance and a team of military and security specialists that fight for what they believe in. Code Name Sentinel follows ex Secret Service Agent and the Nation’s hero Cruce Britton, a new recruit to Jameson Force Security. Cruce and his team are asked as a personal favour to the President, to protect his niece, Barrett Alexander. Barrett is a renowned Scientist on the brink of changing the world with her theories about free energy. Oblivious to anything except her work, Barrett is loathe to change her routine and be constantly shadowed by security, but for her Uncle she relinquishes. When the threat to her safety becomes very real things start heating up, in more ways than one. Suspense, action, and let’s not forget the sexy time, in this romantic thriller that had me on the edge of my seat. Sawyer Bennett can spice up any story, and she does this to perfection with Cruce and Barrett, two strong characters that perfectly compliment each other. Another winner for me. I loved it, and of course Jason Clarke and Lucy Rivers narrated to perfection.

Perfection ❤️

Jason Clarke did a fantastic job narrating for Cruce. He brought the character to life, he was dominant when needed and loving with his Barry. Lucy Rivers embodied Barrett showing us (the reader) her quirky nerdy side as well as her vulnerability during her kidnapping. Sawyer Bennett hit the ball out of the park with this story. It was perfection. The total package.

this had more suspense

I say more suspense....simply because book 1 wasn't as political, just angsty due to fame and the price you pay.
this story was politically aligned and although it could have been more in depth, sawyer bennett keeps it on the light side, skating across details and sticking to romance.
I thought the h could have been a bit more invested in the fact that she orchestrated a catastrophe but I guess we're skating on the light side.
the falling for the h and H part is slow and there's not a lot of introspection so it gives me the sense of not being as invested in the 2. I feel as though it's just accepted. mostly I feel the plotline had potential to pack a punch but was purposely kept light.
in my opinion the series is set to be romance not security ops like Brittany Sahin, whom does more ops than love.
I definitely love sawyers writing though so will head to book 3.
narration...first class of course, can't go past Jason and Lucy.
