Clytemnestra done right

I have consumed all the modern retellings of ancient Greek stories, many of which focused on the house of Atreus. I would have thought this story was overdone, and the new author was late to the game and likely wouldn’t provide anything new. WRONG. I was very impressed with her writing style and storytelling ability. I felt this story was finally given the proper shifted perspective it deserves. All the other retellings I’ve read always missed the mark ever so slightly. But Casati exceeded my expectations and provided a true and fresh feminist retelling. I look forward to her next creation.

Amazing story of strength

I loved this book so very much! I strongly recommend it, great narrator too. I could not find other books by this author but would, surely read them all!

Incredible writing

I liked that the story progressed over Clytemnestra’s lifetime and followed the life of others too.

Fantastic retelling

I loved the story from the side of the women, it was compelling and kept my rapt attention

Clytemnestra is my girl! I like her and think she's bad a$$. This is a really good retelling of her story, from her point of view. She is hard to like at times in this one but I'm still on her side. I listened to the audio book. It's read by Olivia Vinall. She does an amazing job.

A beautiful retelling

Greek mythology is unique in that it gives us so many incredibly strong and nuanced female characters. Clytemnestra is one of the best. This retelling makes her story even richer and humanizes her. The narrator has a beautiful voice that is soothing to listen to but does not detract from the power of the characters. Absolutely worth a listen.
