Crime suffocates the soul

Through character development we see how and why relationships grow and die; how evil kills.

Good story

I really like this author but the micro aggressive behaviors started getting in my nerves.

Not my favorite Anna Travis

Liked the story and the intricacies of the plot - but Langton is such a jerk - why anyone would like him is beyond me. Anna seems so strong and a great detective, but the relationship with Langton makes her appear weak and almost makes me not want to read any more of this series - I just keep hoping he will go away.

thinly disguised rant about immigration

The Inspector Lankdon is intolerable; hard to imagine why DI Travis would be involved with him. Makes her seem silly. The book goes on at length about immigrants and immigrant policies. I didn't want to finish it and listen to the rest of the racist rant.

Not up to the author's usual standard

The plot is slow and very laboured. DCI Lanctot is impossible to tolerate. Much time is given to Britain's immigration policies. Boring convoluted story that tries to interesting but ends up being boring. Listened up to the last 4 hours because I love this author but I had to give up. Maybe book four will win me back.
