The characters are the real strength of this book. The Carver family (and all of the other main characters) are charmingly quirky (in a way that enhances the story rather than being disruptive). Sometimes it feels like you're living right there in Waterdeep with them.
This is now one of my favorite books ever, and Rosemary Jones is joining Elaine Cunningham at the top of my list of favorite Forgotten Realms authors.
For the Audible book, at first I questioned the decision to use a male narrator for a book by a female author about a female protagonist. But as I listened further, I realized he was a great narrator for this book - he really captured the emotions and tones of the scenes, did a wide range of voices that suited the characters, and was able to do semi-goofy voices for characters like Fish and Feeler without it getting too annoying.
I would give this 10 stars if I could.
Great characters, great story, great audiobook narrator
