Good!

This book starts off a bit slow. There is a lot of traveling, but the end, THE END will blow you away. So much happens. I couldn't wait to start the next one!

the narrator is good

after the previous books with what happened to laurel, I'm nervous for Jamie's health going into this book lol

Wow, Just Wow

This book was amazing! I love how thought out everything is. Such a smart author.

Even better than Book 1

This book has it all… mind blowing call backs to the Air Awakens series, politics, suspense, family drama, royalty, magic, pirates, warriors, an expanding world (expertly crafted by Kova), romance, friendship, revenge, betrayal. It was an amazing read that I am sure I will return to after I devour the rest of the series.

Dang... just dang...

If you thought the story couldn't get better than book 1, then you would be mistaken.
Though one chapter of Vi's life comes to a close in the book, another one begins and then we are left on a cliff hanger after having our hearts ripped out... even so, it was well worth the heart ripping as I have a feeling that it will provide some much needed character development for Vi to help with her naivety.
Overall, I can't wait to listen to book 3.

great series

Great 2nd book I really enjoyed it great series so far can't wait to hear the rest of the series.

Wonderful series, Great Narration!

Excited to see that this book had the same narrator as the first book because I really enjoyed the narration of the first. The narrator fits the character of Vi really well, and I like her voice for the style of this story as well.

I enjoyed this story just as I did the first book. I love the world this story takes place in and all the magic. I'd definitely recommend reading the first book in this series before starting this one because the story picks right up where the last one left off. The white death; I think of it as a plague/zombie hybrid scenario, is running rampant. The fate of Vi's father is in question. And! There's those out to kill Vi off. Vi needs to figure out how to cure the white death and possibly save her father, but things definitely aren't easy for her. There's a bit of adventure to be had, which I always love. Also, the romance gets a little zing to it.

I do wish there was a bit more action to this series; I felt my mind wandering at times, but overall, I enjoy how this series is playing out. I was also a bit disappointed the Vi was too naïve at times. Someone straight out tells you they pretty much don't like anything about you; don't apologize to them! And definitely don't trust them. Also, don't just lie down in misery when danger is afoot! Generally though, I liked her. She has some good tenacity.

Overall, this is an interesting story with unique elements. Looking forward to the next.

Amazing sequel

The more I listen to this series the more I love how perfect the narrator is for it, especially Vi. There was a subtle build throughout this book that had me on the edge of my seat by the end. We meet new characters and you KNOW it's leading to something big.

A wonderful fantasy escape into a well thought out realm

The story line is a good one, if not a bit prosaic. Nonetheless it’s quit entertaining and a great listen if your looking for fun it is here

The Rise!

This story takes you again to a world with vivid landscapes, powerful beings of magical decent, and a twisting, turning, cliff hanging story that gives you the urge to start book three stat! I am so grateful to Elise Kova for keeping the same narrator, as authors who have changed them can take away from the story! The voice matched the character and storyline. Vi was a great character with Utopian ideas and ideologies that may or may not help her in the end. Her love story seems to take things to a new level. Looking forward to what is next in book three!
