Stalin's Soviet Union is an official paradise, where citizens live free from crime and fear only one thing: the all-powerful state. Defending this system is idealistic security officer Leo Demidov, a war hero who believes in the iron fist of the law. But when a murderer starts to kill at will and Leo dares to investigate, the State's obedient servant finds himself demoted and exiled. Now, with only his wife at his side, Leo must fight to uncover shocking truths about a killer-and a country where "crime" doesn't exist.

Where does Child 44 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is certainly not the best book I have ever read, but I would place it in the top quartile and give it a solid "worth reading (and worth the credit)"Any additional comments?
Overall, I enjoyed the story. It is a good mystery, in an interesting environment and nicely told/written.I think the book would have been better with a different selection of villain. I don't want to give anything away but the connections we eventually find between the main characters were a bit too farfetched for me and detracted a bit from the books credibility, but it did not spoil the book too much for me and I still enjoyed it overall.
Enjoyable and interesting mystery

Where does Child 44 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
A very strong "read. I was interested in the Chikitillo (?) connection, a true crime case.Who was your favorite character and why?
Leo, the protagonist, is my favorite character..Which scene was your favorite?
Enjoyed the problems Leo had with his political peers.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was frustrated by the book's unacknowledged debt to its source.Any additional comments?
My criticism is for the author. The narrator was excellent.Well Worth Hearing
