Romantic Suspense At It's Best

Layla came to Redemption Harbor to start over. Her ex-fiancée was a murderer. Now that he’s dead she wants to rebuild her life. Here she has friends who care for her. Especially Xavier. I loved seeing how this powerful man was overcome by love for this woman. He will go to any lengths to keep her safe. He’s worried that she won’t want him once she knows the real man. Layla is drawn to Xavier. She wishes that he would reciprocate her feelings. Layla is a good and caring woman. I loved how she makes a difference in the lives of the people around her. These two have lived very different lives but I was touched by how much they care for each other. I wanted this couple to get the HEA they deserved. As usually I enjoy coming to Redemption Harbor. It’s great to catch up with this tight knit group of friends and coworkers. Katie Reus has written a suspenseful story. It’s filled with non-stop action and has a surprising twist at the end. The characters are well written and the dialogue is sharp and snarky. I enjoyed the narration of Sophie Eastlake. She makes the characters come alive. I’m sorry this is the last book in this series. I will miss this team.

Layla was attracted to Xavier and he was now back in town. Her taste in men have been garbage, should she heed Skye advice, that he was dangerous. Xavier thought she was perfect, resilient after what she has been through.Sex and friendship all it could be, his hands were too bloodstained,being he is with the CIA and kills for a living. When she is driven off the road, was it his past or the past dealings of her ex that was behind it, and wanting to kill her. Redemption Agency is called in to figure it out, while Layla and Xavier are on the run, He wanted to retire, and protect her, and even more if possible. Fast action in this final story. Narration by. Sophie Eastlake was good bringing the story to life. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

Lovely Ending

A wonderful ending for the family of Redemption Harbor. I’ll miss this crew but I’m glad to know they all found their happy ending and their person.

Amazing Story, High Suspense !!

Amazing story, the author saved the best for last in this series. So sad to see it go and super happy she brought all the characters I love back in this one. This book is high suspense, action and oh yes the hotness is melting. The narrator handles all characters perfectly and she is clear spoken, and literally makes this story come to life. I highly recommend you give it a listen.

Great narration of an excitement laced story!

Audiobook: Narrator - Sophie Eastlake

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It was a great book to listen to as the narrator kept me engaged the whole time as she brought Xavier and Layla to life. She did a great job of both male and female voices and I never struggled to discern between characters.


What a wonderful ending to this awesome series!

We met Layla in a previous book after she had witnessed her fiancée kill a man. Now she has moved to Redemption Harbor and is trying to settle down. After meeting Xavier they have become friends and while she feels things she normally doesn’t feel for a friend, she’s aware that he doesn’t share those same desires. But after a night out with another man, Xavier confronts her and holy heck, it was spectacular…until she woke up the next morning.


Xavier lives a life that doesn’t allow room for close relationships. Despite that hard and fast rule, he’s drawn to Layla, too much so. He struggles with his feelings until he finds her on a date with another man. It’s all he can take and he makes his move. While it’s the most amazing night of his life, he knows he can’t bring her any further into his life. Not only does his present and past cause potential danger for her, she’s simply too good for him.


There’s a lot of push and pull here, mostly that of Xavier. And I felt it was justified. But even as he’s pushing her away, Layla’s broken past rises up to taunt her with dark memories of not being worthy. When she finds herself in danger, Xavier steps in immediately to protect her. What follows is an action packed, emotionally filled story as they struggle to find a place where they can face each other head on and confront their feelings.

“She was already under his skin and he wanted to be under hers. Because he would take her with him wherever he went. She would live inside him.”

I loved how Xavier was so protective over Layla and wanted only what was best for her despite the fact that meant he would not be in her life. Add in the fact that Layla was strong enough to let him know exactly how she felt about his decisions as well as accepting what he did for a living made for a very enjoyable read.


All of the previous characters from Redemption make an appearance here helping this couple along not only with their special talents but with their friendship. This had a few surprises and no stupid decisions by the heroine, which I appreciated. The steam and chemistry between Layla and Xavier was evident form the very beginning and only accelerated each time they were together.

With a wonderful epilogue that brought us back full circle to the beginning of this series I’m recommending this to everyone who enjoys full on protective alpha heroes and the strong, kick a$$ women who own their hearts.
