Publisher's Summary

From Nicholas Pileggi, author of the best-selling Wiseguy -- the #1 best seller that later became the hit movie Goodfellas -- comes this brilliantly told tale of love, marriage, adultery, murder and revenge Mafia-style, the true story of how the mob finally lost its stranglehold over the multi-billion-dollar casino gambling industry of Las Vegas.

No one knew more about casinos than Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal, the gambling mastermind who, with his best friend and partner Anthony Spilotro virtually ran Las Vegas for the mob. For years it was the perfect arrangement -- Lefty provided the smarts and obsessive attention to detail, while Tony made sure the bosses stayed happy with their weekly suitcases filled with millions of dollars in skimmed cash. It was so sweet it should have lasted forever, but Lefty's obsession with running the town -- and Tony's obsession with Lefty's beautiful showgirl wife Geri -- eventually led to the betrayals and investigations that exploded into one of the greatest debacles in the mob's history.

A real-life story of love and betrayal set in America's favorite playground, Casino is a Mafia tragedy of Shakespearean dimensions, as well as the inside account of just how the mob lost control of the neon money-making machine it created.

Waste of free credit

What is the point of an abridged audio book? It is basically a summary of the actual story. Can get more of the story on wiki in a shorter amount of time.

Abridged & a waste of a credit

Can we please get an unabridged version of this book? We have 7 different versions of arbitrary awfulness to choose from. Whereas, this book, a CLASSIC mob story that is fascinating, we get a 2 hour breakdown. SMH. This is why I prefer buying actual books. I just paid 15 dollars for an audio book that isn't an actually a full book! Get your shit together, Audible! And please let the customer know this isn't the whole book before I waste my monthly credit on it. Thanks! Still enjoy the service.

Wish it was unabridged

A fascinating story that suffers from being abridged. You'll get the exact same story by watch the 1995 film Casino, while also seeing Joe Pesci cuss up a storm. Wish Audible will make an unabridged version once day to get more details.

Abridged

Slightly different from the movie, but still entertaining. This would be a 5/5 if we had an unabridged version. It's a shame that Audible will release 55,000 unabridged romance novels for transgendered furies, but won't get us an unabridged version of one of the best mafia books ever written.

The performance of the book is good.

Great Story and Well Read

Very good story and very interesting.

My only complaint is that it is Abridged. Since I am looking for more detail I felt this wetted my appetite.

So as long as you know thus us Abridged you will enjoy it.

Too Abridged

Excellent book however this version is too abridged to bother getting invested in. Watch the film instead. Until the unabridged version is released this is probably not worth your time.

To short

I found it to be interesting but just felt there wasn't enough put into the story. It felt very short I even feel like I found out more details from the movie than the book which is never the case.

Decent

The book’s story was great. The performance wasn’t bad, but my only knock is it should of been longer and with for details. The details I’m talking about was what happened to the mob bosses who were involved.

Great Book

This is a great book that goes into more detail than the movie Casino does. It also corrects a few mistakes the movie has at the end, and gives another view on who might have bombed the car Lefty. It was the first audio book I listened to in full. It was great.

It’s the movie in spoken words

Casino is one of my favorite movies!!! It’s kind of nice to already have characters in your head to match to the characters.
