The Irishman “gives new meaning to the term ‘guilty pleasure.’’’ — Bryan Burrough, author of Public Enemies, in The New York Times Book Review

“Told with such economy and chilling force as to make The Sopranos suddenly seem overwrought and theatrical.” New York Daily News

“A terrific read.” Kansas City Star

The Irishman is an epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked for legendary crime boss Russell Bufalino alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th Century. Spanning decades, Sheeran’s story chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and it offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics. Sheeran would rise to a position of such prominence that in a RICO suit against The Commission of La Cosa Nostra, the US Government would name him as one of only two non-Italians in conspiracy with the Commission. Sheeran is listed alongside the likes of Anthony “Tony Pro” Provenzano and Anthony “Fat Tony” Salerno.

In the course of nearly five years of recorded interviews, Sheeran confessed to Charles Brandt that he handled more than twenty-five hits for the mob, and Brandt turned Sheeran’s story into a page-turning true crime classic.

I enjoyed the book and look forward to the movie. There are a lot of story lines that make you wonder how much is fact and how much is fantasy.

Fact or Fiction, hard to tell.

Would you consider the audio edition of I Heard You Paint Houses to be better than the print version?

The performance is great, I can't image just reading the book when the narration was so go.

What did you like best about this story?

Now we know where Hoffa went....

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First time listening to Scott Brick but it won't be the last, hunting up books he's narrated.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Find out what really happened to Hoffa....

Have to listen to it again.

The story is phenomenal. The history of this county that Frank saw, experienced, and even altered is unbelievable. A gripping story that I did not want to take a break from.

Fantastic

I have read / listened to hundreds of mafia genre books. This is one of the best. Based on what I already knew of Hoffa, Gallo and a few other things, I believe that this book is factual. He was already dying, he had no reason to lie. He was not doing it for ego or money. And too many other things check out. Of course there is no way to know for sure, but everything else adds up. Though I agree with Frank, the book name was horrible. If it had a different name, I 100% would have bought the book when it came out. Most likely I skipped over it due to the name. Thankfully Netflix made the movie and it led me to the book. The narrator really never matters in this genre. Scott Brick is excellent, but a strange choice.

Amazing
