Publisher's Summary

In her highly-anticipated nonfiction debut, humorist and popular blogger Susannah B. Lewis (Whoa! Susannah) uses dry wit and an eye for the absurd to find laughter in even the most challenging circumstances.

Millions of online fans have flocked to Susannah B. Lewis's hysterical, take-no-prisoners videos that capture her uproarious yet deeply faithful view of the world. Now she brings to book form her keen eye for the absurd as she reveals her experiences growing up in a small Tennessee town. From the time an escaped albino panther wandered into her backyard to the Thanksgiving when an egg in the table's centerpiece hatched a baby chicken to the kind neighbors who brought casseroles in Tupperware for months - even years - after her father died when she was just 11 years old, the stories she tells delve deeply into the rich culture of the South that molded her. Clinging to the promises of God in times of grief and looking for every opportunity to laugh, Lewis is the wry yet wise girl next door who invites you to sit a spell beside her on the front porch.

Loved it!

Susannah Lewis is easy to relate to; time flew by listening to her book. She narrates this herself; it's like listening to an old friend talk about life's ups and downs, finding joy (eventually) in all things. I laughed and cried, and generally felt like someone else in the world felt like I have felt at times.
Highly recommend!

I’ve not cried so much in years!

I have read maybe 3 books, in my adult life. I decided to listen to this one. Oh, how I am overjoyed that I did. I could picture every scenery that Susannah described. My heart wept as I too remembered my grandmother. I wept at knowing loss. I cried so hard, I laughed. Thank you for helping remember it’s ok to cry and laugh.

It would be a five star but...

This is an honest an emotional read. I expected more stories that would double me over in laughter and tears. I enjoyed the honest and emotional way Susannah told her history, but I wanted more subject matter to laugh at, this was kind of deep and darker than I expected. To be honest I purchased the book on the title and Susannah’s name alone. Maybe the description explained the subject matter better, but I didn’t read it.
