Publisher's Summary

Fall comes to Sequoia and with it, the California wildfires. While the entire community fights to save their town, Zion and Tate get swept up in a new mystery. Zephyr’s uncle discovers a dead body in a burnt-out shack, claiming he’s found proof that Sequoia is being invaded by aliens.

Unfortunately, Sheriff Wilson has other ideas about the man’s death, forcing Tate and Zion to open an investigation in order to save Alvin O’Malley. Can they discover who the murderer is to protect Zephyr’s uncle, or are they about to get caught up in an investigation that is bigger than they know?

Disaster in Sequoia

I totally enjoy all the characters (they are like family) of Sequoia in this mystery series especially with the narration and was a long wait for this one. In this book the main characters are Zion Sawyer and Tate, as well as Zephyr, Logan, Jaguar, her fun parents who move there and more. This book there is a disaster with the town overcome by wildfire and Zephyr’s uncle is murdered which Tate and Zion are determined to solve. Recommend if you enjoy cozy mystery series but suggest you listen from the start to know the characters. Keep them coming. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

A Great Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and extremely enjoyable. Autumn in Sequoia is beautiful, but can also be deadly as forest fires rage in the distance. The town is evacuated and as they wait at the Acorn Casino . Cabins on the outskirt of town burn to the ground. Zion and Tate have a new case when a burnt body is found in one of the homes. As always an awesome story with great characters that makes you laugh and cry, sometimes at the same moment. This combination of author and narrator is just pure enjoyment. Looking forward to the next book.

Rebecca...

I have listened to all the books and Rebecca might possibly be one of the most obnoxious people on the planet. she sounds like she has that pretty privilege syndrome, without anyone with the ability to put her in her place. other than that the book was awesome as usual.

Mystery and Humor!

Cafe Mocha by M.L. Hamilton, a Zion Sawyer Cozy Mystery is so much more than just a mystery. There is humor, a sense of community and friendship, along with life's reality of fires. Kelley Hazen is fantastic at bringing the characters to life with distinguishable voices. I really enjoy this series and recommend it.

Engaging mystery

Love this series! Great character development and sense of community. The central mystery in this story is intriguing and well written. The entire story is even more enjoyable due to delightful drops of humor that flow naturally as a result of interactions between neighbors, friends and family. The narrator continues to bring just the right amount of personality to each of the characters. We're looking forward to the next installment.

Another win for the Zion Sawyer series!

If this is your first Zion Sawyer Cozy Mystery.... STOP! The series is best enjoyed in order because the characters and the Sequoia community really grow and develop through the books. The series is great fun and each book is just as a good as the others!

That said, this audiobook is fantastic! The characters are quirky and delightful, and the sense of community is strong (though for such a tight, little community, they sure have more than their fair share of murder). Things get a little touch and go for a while because of the forest fires in California but the people of Sequoia always look out for their own. I love how ML Hamilton somehow manages to balance the lighthearted with the more serious and emotional moments. There are moments of stress and tension contrasted with the silly and absurd but then that is Sequoia for you! And, of course, the romance is sweet and funny too!

Kelley Hazen performed the book to perfection. She has the ability to use her voice to express the subtle nuances of the characters and situations to enhance the listening experience. In fact, the ML Hamilton and Kelley Hazen combination is always a winner for an enjoyable listening experience!

Looking forward to the next book already!
