Publisher's summary

In exchange for the comfort of now, people gave up tomorrow. The builders of Tuners HQ aren’t what anybody expected. The conflict today was forged in the fires of yesterday. The Tuners have lost too much to the cult and are forced into a choice that divides the team. With the technology of Universe One on their side, they may find a way to end the reign of religious terror forever, but the cost is high.

"Jon, do you think we'll survive this? "

Oh, dear, I so wanted to enjoy this book, the third in the Tuners series. The basis premise is a good one: multiple universes with movement between them possible for some, but a pseudo religious sect out to destroyed those who can. We've met the characters in the earlier books and, frankly, they are mostly unlikable, more sharp angles showing than reality figures. And such wafflers, too, rather than just getting something done. In this case, saving lives.
Narrated again by Sean Winkless Hall, who reads well, his pleasant voice easy on the ear, the writing, is in a relaxed style initially becoming more disjointed later. Lots of ma!e rivalry, priestly posturing, rotting corpsies, sick action and violence and, of course, dastardly doings. plus A vortex of two. A colourful young adult story with promise - but, sadly, not for me.

My thanks to the rights holder of Cacophony who, at my request,, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy via Audiobook Boom. I'm sure this would appeal to younger, teenage readers and given the graphic writing style, would translate well into a film. But, again, not for me.

Great Ending to Series

Good end to the series. Big swings and story arcs. Satisfying ending and resolutions of all characters.
