In this debut novel, 33-year-old Addie Lockwood bears and surrenders for adoption a son, her only child, without telling his father, little imagining how the secret will shape their lives. Told through letters and spare, precisely observed vignettes, Byrd is an unforgettable story about making and living with the most difficult, intimate, and far-reaching of choices.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This is for readers who enjoy a character study written in smooth, well structured prose but aren't looking for entertainment or enlightenment. Nothing entertaining or enlightening here. I kept thinking, "what is the point of this story ?"What about Lauren Fortgang’s performance did you like?
Narration was excellent, and I would listen to Lauren Fortang again. She made the characters distinct with her voice. There just isn't much of a story.Rather pointless
