Publisher's summary

Trust nothing. Challenge everything. Survive, if you can.

In the chilling dawn of a near-future world, gene hackers, armed with AI and CRISPR's deadly precision, unleash wave after wave of engineered diseases. With food dwindling and trust eroding, nations spiral into authoritarian chaos, battling an unseen enemy while rampant disinformation corrodes the very fabric of society.

Millions, once productive citizens, now languish in their homes, awaiting meager government assistance checks. They peer through windows, fear in their eyes, dreading the ever-present virus police who, with a blast from their notorious Burn Boxes, cleanse the world one contaminated victim at a time.

Amid this tempest of societal decay stands Noah Blanks, an ordinary man burdened with the responsibility of his mortgage and the health of his cherished grandpa. For him, hope is a distant memory of a saner world. But when the virus police arrive at his doorstep, forcibly hauling Grandpa out into the street and turning him to ash within the steel walls of a Burn Box, Noah's passive wait for a better world ignites into an urgent need for action.

Burn Box is more than a survival story. It's an exploration into the depths of humanity in a world teetering on the edge. Can Noah muster the courage to defy this twisted order, or will he be swallowed by the fiery abyss of the dystopian terror?

Wow

I have been getting bored of books in this genre as they seem to be all the same, or are too far-fetched to be anything but entertaining. This book, however, actually scared me. Too many things that called back to mind the early days of the Covid pandemic. The author did an excellent job of taking our current position (on the cusp of a new world with emerging tech) and painted a horrifying picture of what could be if we continue on this track.

The action started right away, and the writing is superb. Adair knows how to horrify and doesn't hold back, which I love. The narrator was fantastic, making this book seem too short!

Looking forward to more of this world Adair created.

Doesn’t disappoint

Adairs’s clearly the modern apocalypse master. This book is right up his alley. It is was an easy listen and very enjoyable. A note of caution, if you hand strong feelings about the need for Covid compliance, this book may strike you the wrong way. But bear in mind, this is a work of fiction. It’s no threat to anyone’s political alignment

A new type of apocalyptic nightmare

Starts a little slow, but this author never fails to write a good book. MC seems to be pretty gullible but with a soft heart, at first. But he wisens up and turns into an interesting character. Will follow this series, as I do with all this author writes.

Absolutely phenomenal as usual from Bobby Adair

This is starting out to be equally as good as his perfectly written, and narrated slow burn series

Great book 1

Phil Thron narrations is what brings this book to life for me. Bobby Adair storytelling is extremely remarkable. Slow to start this is just book 1 can’t wait for the next. Maybe we will get some Nulspot moments

scary, thought provoking. power corrupts.

reminds me of the dystopic nightmare many countries put their citizens through during Covid. this is the world they wanted but people pushed back and thank goodness we did.

Very scary and good

Very close to home. “People reserve their deepest hate for the ones that shatter their illusions” is a great line.

WOW! THAT WAS EXCITING!

This book had me stressed out the whole time. Afraid the MC was going to get caught. I couldn’t stop listening from start to finish. Adair is a great author. I love SLOW BURN. Actually anything he writes has been pretty incredible. I also love the voice actor. they make a great pair. I see book 2 and three are out on Kindle, but not an audible since I don’t have the time to read I’ll have to wait till they come out on Audible to finish this awesome series.

Great Take on the Apocalypse

Very gripping story that I couldn’t stop listening to. Very realistic situation, very close to what is happening now!
I wish the continuation (book 2 of 3) wasn’t so far out from being released.
