Publisher's summary

Not all love stories are written the same way. Ours had torn chapters, missing paragraphs, and a bittersweet ending.

Luna Rexroth is everyone’s favorite wallflower.

Sweet.

Caring.

Charitable.

Quiet.

Fake.

Underneath the meek, tomboy exterior everyone loves (yet pities) is a girl who knows exactly what, and who, she wants - namely, the boy from the tree house who taught her how to curse in sign language.

Who taught her how to laugh.

To live.

To love.

Knight Cole is everyone’s favorite football hero.

Gorgeous.

Athletic.

Rugged.

Popular.

Liar.

This daredevil hell-raiser could knock you up with his gaze alone, but he only has eyes for the girl across the street: Luna.

But Luna is not who she used to be. She doesn’t need his protection anymore.

When life throws a curveball at All Saints’ golden boy, he’s forced to realize not all knights are heroes.

Sometimes, the greatest love stories flourish in tragedy.

Alright already...

This was too drawn out! I like the next generation of hotholes but this was 11 hours of angst and too much bull! Had the story line wrapped up sooner and not been drawn out, it would have potentially been better!!

Best Audio of 2019

This book has become a favorite and now listening to the audio I’m blown away. Jacob Morgan brings Knight Cole alive. I think it’s his best narration I’ve heard. Every nuance, sarcasm, emotion, and the internal dialogue was perfection. All the narration was so so good. Absolutely loved it!!!

Drags On and On and On and On

I love angst. Read angsty books all the time. This book has more angst than is really necessary. They are both teens so I cut them a little slack, but it got really old really fast. Their decisions made no sense most of the time. Also the woman narrator gave everyone a super posh voice. I found that off putting and it took me out of the story. Especially after reading about these women in previous books and knowing they aren’t snooty. They all spoke like the Queen of England in this narrators performance.

Just no

These two are a hot mess and that’s putting it nicely. Knight is so vindictive, mean and so full of himself I would have said bye a long time ago. Luna was a doormat that let everyone else run her life. I’m 80% through this audio and I’m done with the toddler like fit throwing and you did this so I’m going to get you back and hurt you more. Seriously wtf. I’m glad I didn’t actually pay for this audio

Meh

I love this author and I liked these characters. But honestly I was hoping for more intimacy. I feel like the first generation of bad boys were more bully and erotic. Sorry, but get on with it. It could’ve been a 5 hour book.

It was ok....but

I never ever write reviews but i had to with this one. It’s honestly just a story about teenagers who act like teenagers. Gets kinda annoying at times and teenage sweet at others. If I’d have known it was about kids I wouldn’t have listened to it in the first place. They should put a young adult label on this book.

Lost for words

I havent cried in years, but this book got me good, not just tears down the cheek but full blown weeping so I got an headache afterward.
I got all these things in my head that I want to put down in this review, but really, just read or listen to it.
I didnt think anything about top "pretty reckless", i listened to it like 5 times and hornestly, I wont listen to this again because it hurts to do.

L.J Shen sure is the GOAT of this genre, none even gets close at this point.

Unpopular opinion...

Okay, I'm all for the drama, but this story DRAGS. The story had me hooked from the beginning, but halfway through I was beginning to get very bored and frustrated with the characters. The simple concept: two best friends who are in love with each other, but can't properly express their feelings. Knight is self-absorbed, a bully, and manipulative. Honestly, I could say the same about Luna. I am not going to root for two characters who constantly belittle one another and purposely make the other person feel pain, to fall in love. The two of them are self-destructive, and came across as unlikable. I kept waiting for something to happen for them to be better. Nope. The only thing that saved this book was the narration performance.

There are not enough stars!!! L.J. Shen SLAYED!

It's been a few days since I finished Broken Knight and it is now when I can feel stable enough to write a review, be focused and not ramble away. I will start by saying that this story is WELL WORTH THE HYPE!! If you are a fan of The Sinners of Saint and now the All Saints High having this story told just gives us fans an additional look into what is happening with the characters that we love and adore. When you figure that this story is about Knight and Luna you already know that it will be quite a ride. These are people that have so much going on in their lives as individuals and then add the stress of growing up and having to make decisions... on top of family drama. For every L.J. Shen story I read / listen to I feel I am going on a journey in which I give her my faith and my trust and I just hold on to the ride. This story was very emotional on every level and yet she found ways to bring in humor, banter and outstanding characters that continue to excite by adding additional layers to the story. It came a point in the story that you knew where she would go and even though it hurt, it was beautifully written and perfectly performed by Savannah Peachwood. Her chapter totally obliterated me!! And then bring in Christian Rummel reprising his role as Dean and having to listen to his POV and what he was going through just tore me open even more. I thought I had no more tears left but then the ending was poignant and the characters had so much growth that I was proud and elated for them. This is what L.J. Shen does so well and casting Jacob Morgan & CJ Bloom as the leads was a outstanding casting choice. They carried these characters with strength, conviction and passion and deserve a huge standing ovation. This is certainly a top audio for me this year. I can not even imagine what is in store for us with Angry God!! Bring it on!!

It’s A Long Story!

So I’m guessing everyone who reads this book loves it. For me, it started out great, then around chapter 6, Luna and Knight lost some of their appeal. She was a girl with such deep seated issues that she couldn’t speak, and he, well, he had a zillion and one issues of his own. It wasn’t horrible, it just got too wordy for me, if that makes sense (I know, it is a BOOK, after all), but 11 hours is absurd! I feel like anything written that takes over 8 hours to perform, is because the Author just likes to, “hear themselves speak” if you know what I mean. If you love flowery wordy sentences and way too much information, you’ll love this book, but better pack a lunch...

So good

Broken Knight has always been one of my favourite LJ Shen books, but listening to the narration just escalated it to a whole other level!

So so broken!

So finally but my big girl pants, on 4 years after reading, to listen to the audio.

Wow what an absolutely amazing job the narrators did on the audio, this was an emotional read and made all the more powerful through the audio, bought to tears yet again.

So Broken

That’s how I am after listening this one. Broken!!

Mentally and emotionally drained, the angst is palpable.

I so wanted Luna to be fixed, but not quite this way.

I didn’t want to read what would make Knight become to being so so broken.

This was such an emotional rollercoaster.

I’m so glad I had read the Sinners of Saints before reading this series, as I don’t think you’d get the same impact from the events.

This was so good, even if it broke my heart.

Great story

I really enjoyed this audiobook, the story was captivating and enthralling, the characters so real and the plot was fab. I lived the emotions through this story and even cried at a few chapters. Really enjoyed the voices too, they captured the characters well.

Tears 😭

love ❤️ the story and narrators. Love the fact that it's about the 4 Hot Holes' kids.
Yes, I cried everything I had at some point, but that was expected, having listened to Ruckus.

Lovely story

Well having read the first collection of all saint’s it was so good to read about the next generation as I always want more, but I can honestly say I’ve never cried so hard during a book💔. Such a good book and I was satisfied with the happy ending. Would definitely recommend reading the first collection before these as you will get to know all the other characters much better.

Wow….

This book……just, this book.
With a great storyline and wonderful characters this book is amazing. I cried so hard. The emotion that is in this book shows the pure talent of L.J Shen and their ability to destroy me with words. A brilliant performance from both narrators. I highly recommend this book. Wonderful, beautiful and heartfelt.

Loved this book

Having read all the previous books I was looking forward to this one. I wasn’t disappointed. Just the right mixture of angst and humour, with a little bit of heartache. Dean and Rosie also make cameo appearances. Narration was fantastic, voices perfect.

Luna is an interesting character. I found her irritating at times, but I think she grew throughout the book which was clearly the intent.

Knight was gorgeous. We’d had an introduction to him in Pretty Reckless, and he developed from there. Definitely a heart of gold but struggling with his own demons. He made the book for me.

I’m very much looking forward to Angry God next, although not sure anyone can best Knight.

A no holding back look at love, loss, and addiction in all its forms.

I never cried after my sister died also from a lung disease. This book made me face my loss and allowed me to grieve.

It did so much more as it showed me the anxiety and inner turmoil of love and life. The beauty and the ugliness that co-exhaust.

This is a book I’ll listen to again after I pick up my pieces and reform into a stronger me.

I was balling my eyes out by the end of this book!

I absolutely fell for KJC. The character was raw, kind, funny, loyal and a typical teenage boy sometimes. The way Knight loves Luna unconditionally, reminded me of my first crush in high school. It was hard for me too read about the substance abuse, and how easily it was accessible for the character; but I guess it's reality.
My favourite lines are from the epilogue. (They were simple words, but they really resonated with me.)
Knight: Making love to her, kissing her mouth.
Mine!
The center of her chin.
Mine!
Her nose.
Mine, mine, mine!

Not what I expected

The first half is immature romanticising a soul mate connection, riddled with unhealthy behaviours. It has me questioning if it was written by a teenager or an adult. Then the story took a turn as we opened up Rosies story and the characters seem to deepen as the writing matured. It’s the reason I didn’t put this one aside as not my type of book. If your after an easy read with a happy ending give it a go. A mature well rationed story that will have you in the edge of your seat... properly best to keep looking.

Not my cup of tea.

The mix of entitled rich teenagers with angst was not easy to relate to, yes privilege does not protect against real world issues such as ill health and family conflict, but the behaviour of the boys was nasty. The way that sex was used as a weapon seemed a toxic message, that I also find confronting and not effective.

I did not enjoy this book.
