With another devastatingly hilarious, ridiculous, unnervingly accurate take on modern womanhood, Bridget Jones is back. (v.g.)
Monday 27 January:
"7:15 a.m. Hurrah! The wilderness years are over. For four weeks and five days now have been in functional relationship with adult male, thereby proving am not love pariah as recently feared."

Wednesday 5 March:
"7:08 p.m. Am assured, receptive, responsive woman of substance. My sense of self comes not from other people but . . .from . . .myself? That can't be right."

Lurching from the cappuccino bars of Notting Hill to the blissed-out shores of Thailand, everyone's favorite Singleton Bridget Jones begins her search for The Truth in spite of pathetically unevolved men, insane dating theories, and Smug Married advice. She experiences a zeitgeist-esque Spiritual Epiphany somewhere between the pages of How to Find the Love You Want Without Seeking It (can self-help books really help self?), protective custody, and a lightly chilled Chardonnay.©1999 Helen Fielding; (P)2005 Books on Tape, Inc.

If you enjoyed the first Bridget Jones diary, then this book will most likely also appeal. Bridget Jones is so likeable and her life is completely crazy. The narrator does a great job with the characters voices and I really enjoyed the entire experience.

Funny and entertaining

If you could sum up Bridget Jones in three words, what would they be?

Caring, idealistic, and clueless

What other book might you compare Bridget Jones to and why?

It reminds me a lot of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Age 13 3/4. Both characters are struggling to have a decent love relationship, and are constantly caught in outrageous situations brought on by their friends, family, and own poor judgement. They both long to be taken seriously, but are absolutely clueless. Since both have good hearts we keep hoping for their happiness, even while laughing at their misadventures.

Which character – as performed by Rosalyn Landom – was your favorite?

Bridget is definitely my favorite character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book did make me laugh a lot. Some of the situations Bridget gets herself in are way over the top, but it still is very entertaining.

Any additional comments?

Because some of the situations are so far fetched, it makes this book just a little less enjoyable than the first. Still I've listened to it more than once, and will undoubtedly do so again.

Can Bridget survive the worst holiday ever?

I think most of us girls have an inner Bridget, we just don't reveal her very often. She's is just so silly and funny. How can you not like her? If you're looking for something light and entertaining then this Bridget Jones is just the thing.

Singleton's Entertained!

The narrator brings this story to life with a fabulous voice for Bridget that really enhances the self-deprecating humor. I have listened to it nearly a dozen times in the two years since I bought it! It is laugh-out-loud funny, thanks to the witty author and the narrator's performance. I wish Audible would add an unabridged version of Bridget Jones' Diary by the same narrator. As for the storyline in The Edge of Reason, it is very, very different from the movie, so don't pass on this book just because you may have seen the film. If you liked either of the Bridget Jones movies, you will love this audio book.

fun story, excellent narrator

This was a fun novel to listen to. The narrator did a good job of conveying the different characters as well as Bridget's state of mine. However I didn't enjoy this book as much as the original Bridget Jone's Diary, I felt that the plot twists were a bit forced and the incidents not quite as true to life as the original. Overal it was a good listen and if you are looking for something light to listen to this is a good choice.

Delightful but not as good as the original
