Good story!

I don't know what to say about this book. It left me feeling empty, yet worse. Tessa left JJ at the altar, why? I'm still not sure and for what? Because she wanted him to have a better life? From the sounds of it, they both loved each other fully and were moments from having a future together. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, but that's not possible, either, because she deprived JJ from knowing his son for seven years. There was absolutely no mention of Tessa being pregnant until, whoops, she has a little boy out of the blue. There was no real reason for a second chance because the only reason Tessa went home was for her mother's funeral. JJ has had a girlfriend for four years, that we are told is not his end-all, but you could have fooled me since they're FWB and he wishes Celeste could be his happy ending. Being the wuss that she is, Tessa doesn't say anything about JJ being Nathan's father until JJ himself accuses her of stealing from him. She did! What's her only concern? She's terrified that JJ will take her son from her. Well, babe, you took and kept him away for seven long years. But now that he's met his son, JJ has to fix things with Celeste, which means telling her that he needs a life with his son and Tessa. JJ's doubt and anger, combined with Tessa's toxic stubbornness, last until the very end and then there's a HEA. The ending is rushed and ruined by a surprise pregnancy that came out of nowhere. There was zero passion between Tessa and JJ, other than anger.
The narration is nicely done by R.J. Creighton. Her dynamic, emotional voice and solid pace and modulation of the story are perfect from start to finish and the characters feel alive.

Bride Texas revisited

Tessa left town on her wedding day 8 years earlier and never looked back until she received word her mom died. JJ her intended was heartbroken. She thought she was doing it for him but she was really afraid of him getting tired of her and abandoning her so she left first. It was hard to see her so stuck on her rationalizations that she almost lost the best chance she had for happiness. Luckily JJ loved her through all her waffling. This is Pride and Prejudice ramped up. Loved the town and the legend of Alora.

an interesting story

This is the first story I listen and/or read by this author , so I wasn't sure what to expect.
The story centers around Tessa and JJ. Tessa left JJ at the altar. Her reason being it was the best for his future. But was it best for his self-esteem? She returns 7 years later for her mother's funeral with a boy . He's JJ's son, a son he knew nothing about and missed out on.
While Tessa claims she doesn't want to be like her mother, she follows her steps. The push and pull was interesting and as much as I enjoyed JJ , Tessa , not so much.
The narrator was good with the various voices .
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Pride goeth before the fall

This is a remarkable angst filled story that abounds with misunderstanding and miscommunication! Rediscovering love and a second chance that is jeopardized because of pride makes this story impossible to put down until Ms. Paulson jerks the reins of this buggy crash and our couple finally listen to their hearts. I loved it and Ms. Creighton does an excellent narration making you feel Ms. Paulson's words!
