Nice conclusion

I liked the narrator of this book better than the first. This was a good conclusion to the story and wrapped up nicely.

Sweet romance

Loved the sweet moments between Cade and Lexi. Loved the passion between them and how loyal they both were to each other. Didn’t love how cold, prickly, and unpleasant Lexi continued to be in this book. I had such a problem with her in the first book, so I had some major hope that she had matured in the 2 years between the last book and this one. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. She’s still getting into everyone else business; which I don’t really care about any of the other character’s relationships, and she’s still so unaware of herself. Cade on the other hand was wonderful. I’m just sad that Lexi is just so unlikeable because I really enjoyed the “bones” of this story. I also wanted more in the ending. More happiness time. So, good writing, good premise, hard to connect with main character. Characters are important to me, so I went with 3 stars. I was entertained the whole story as well, so that’s a good thing. Plus, I listened to the audio and the narrator did a good job; her performance fits the characters well. Quality performance that I’d recommend.

Great !

A story that was fantastic! I loved it because I couldn’t wait to see what happened with the step brother and step sister who were in love with each other. The narrator was amazing!

PERFECT conclusion

First of all the narrator was a lot better than the first one. Much more mature voice and she did a fantastic job doing the male narrations.

The story evolved so perfectly from the conclusion of Heartless. The chemistry between Lexie and Cade was heartfelt and real. Their characters were definitely relatable. The story was the perfect length not too short and quick or lengthy and full of fluff. Definitely recommend this to over readers/listeners tho enjoy forbidden romances.

Much better than the first

The first book followed the same hero/heroine as they met in high school, became frenemies to lovers and eventually even steps.
Book 2 picks up where book one left off and follows the same characters as their life progresses but eventually jumps forward a few years where the pair are older and wiser but still have the sizzling chemistry that they had in high school.
I liked this one a bit more because the situations they found themselves in screamed for more seasoning of the two before it because a more believable HEA.
My biggest issue with book 1 was the narrator and in book 2 the author chose a perfect person to pull it off. It was definitely a more enjoyable listen.

Loved this Second chance

I really enjoyed this second chance story it was great conclusion to the first, however I would not recommend it as a standalone. After the conclusion of the first I was so glad to finally see Cade and Lexie finally get their happily ever after!

Such a cute story

Okay so I'm not much into the step brother books but I really liked this one. The only thing I didn't care for was the narrator. She does a great job when she's in character, but her inner monologue voice is very nasaly, ugh! But the story was good enough for me to push through her voice. Anyway, it's a short listen but good! Cade, lawwwwd he's a jerk! He should've had his face slapped off a few times opening his big mouth! But you'll need to listen to get the details. ❤️

A great finish to the previous book

Thank you to Suzana Thompson for proving me with a free audiobook in return for an honest review.

Breathless follows on shortly after Thompson’s book, Heartless. Cade and Lexi have have some time away following an inconvenient incident causing them to break up. Now Lexi needs to make her mind up about him when she finds herself studying at the same college.

The previous book ended on such a cliffhanger that I was really looking forward to finding out what was in store for these two characters. Thompson moved the story along very well with the same characters remaining and others who were no longer in the story but are still mentioned and remembered. It was nice to read Cade and Lexi’s relationship progress from high school sweethearts to more mature lovers.

I would have liked to hear a little more about Cade’s backstories that weren’t really explained in the previous book, such as his relationship with his old school friends. The story was short and to the point though.

I’ve read a few Suzana Thompson books now and although I enjoyed this one I think it’s my least favourite I didn’t really feel like much happened. It just completed the story for the previous book and set the readers minds at rest. It was a lovely read though.
