Seriously, I'm a R.K. Lilley fan for life! There's just something about these books that hits every button for me. This series was perfection--dramatic, over the top, romantic perfection. It's not a fairy tale romance though, it's gritty, very dark, and kind of twisted. The narration was on point and befitting of the characters, also the interplay and history amongst the characters and their relationships was just toxic enough that I just ate up every minute of the story. A definite repeat listen for both books in this series, and highly recommended for those love sick like me out there.

THIS WAR HAD CASUALTIES.... BUT LOVE TRIUMPHED
R. K. Lilley has done it again.... she's blown me away with an absolutely gripping and riveting story of love that's turned toxic... leading to spiteful jibes, witty yet wounding banter and years of regrets, heartache and painful memories. As the story slowly unfolds it introduces you to Scarlett and Dante who superficially hate each other and yet their history's are somehow entwined, their feelings run deep, their chemistry is combustible.... and that sometimes leads them to give in to angry sex. Their pasts are waiting to be told and their futures are waiting to be rewritten.
The chapters dart from present to past and back again giving an insight into like minded childhood friends whose natures were so similar that they formed an unbreakable bond... the world vs Scarlett and Dante. Scarlett was found in a dumpster, lived in a trailer with her alcoholic Grandmother and was dirt poor - whereas Dante comes from Old money, had a Trust Fund and his Mother's high expectations for him were constantly thrust in his face. Opposites in a lot of ways and yet there tempers and attitudes were so alike.
They go from being devoted friends to inseparable lovers with their hearts and futures so tightly entwined that they thought nothing and nobody could break them apart... but they were so naive and so very wrong. As the story flips back to the present you know Dante's broken Scarlett's heart but how and why will remain a mystery until the end. This bitter-sweet heartbreaking and tragic story that slowly unfurls tells a tale of innocence, brutal rape, murder, jealousy, shattered dreams, painful memories, blackmail, treachery, lost years, bitter regrets, soul shattering shocks, twists, drama, angst, manipulation, lies, secrets, selfless unconditional sacrifice and soul deep anguish that cuts deep. However, there's such a sweet backstory, a touching young love and an epic love story amongst the rubble of hate filled years of war, conflict and hostility.
This review is for the entire duet because after book 1 I just couldn't wait to listen to the now available second instalment of Scarlett and Dante's story which was utterly compelling, pulse-poundingly gripping, tearfully tragic, heartachingly beautiful and totally unforgettable. These two characters loved and lost but when the awful unbelievable truth was finally revealed they fought hard, against a vicious vindictive enemy, and eventually got their long awaited second chance to make things right, to forgive, to heal.... and to claim their HEA.
Worth a credit? I'm emotionally exhausted, mind f'd, overwhelmed, overjoyed and grateful to R. K. Lilley for yet another memorable and very creditworthy listen... thank you.

great listen!!
I was so surprised with all the different twists and turns that unfolded in this book that was never suspected from the first book. I really enjoyed this love story. this a must listen and or read!!

Amazing
What a book, the story was good and Scarlet is a real gem. She has spunk and falls far short of being sweet. I loved this book.

This had me wanting to pull my hair out....
This had me wanting to pull my hair out. It was gripping and frustrating in the whole structure of it. Jumping between the past and the present between the two characters was both frustrating and enthralling. Certain plot twists were built up to with lovely foreshadowing and then a couple just had me floored. I loved to hate these two infuriating characters. Their love and devotion, though very dramatic, is what makes even some of the ridiculous plot lines believable. I was cheering and cringing with them. Would definitely recommend! But be warned if you don't like slightly implausible plots, this book will probably not be for you. and of course the steamy sex was lovely as always.

I Wanted More....
I am so sad that I didn't love this second half of Donte and Scarlet's story as much as I LOVED the first half. The conclusion doesn't really pick up where the first book in the duet stopped so it took a little bit to get back into the dynamic of the love hate relationship between Scarlet and Donte. Then there was some drama and thrills thrown in that I did not see coming. I enjoyed the conclusion but I wished there had been a little bit more.

Cant finish this one....
After reading the 1st one, I thought the 2nd one should be just as good as the 1st. But after reading just about 25 chapters of just them having sex I was done. There was no substance just sex sex and more sex.

What a raw strong beautiful story so heart wrenching but I'm the next breath had you giggling. would recommend you read with tissues and chococlate!!
