Publisher's summary

Fresh from her photo shoot in Northern England, wildlife photographer Tala Westbrook makes a promised stop at the family manor in Staffordshire, desperately in need of renovation. Though she didn’t plan to stay longer than it took to find a contractor, she is caught up in an ancient paranormal war. Despite the danger all around, she finds herself falling for the handsome, enigmatic man assigned to protect her.

Micah Berrington, elite guardian from the realm of the Bewitan Fierd, is used to protecting men of strength in the greatest of peril, not a female looking for someone to repair her home. Yet the assignment is far more than it seems and so is the beautiful woman destined to capture his heart, regardless of the cost.

Bound by Oath and Honor

I like the time traveling aspect, other realms, and otherworldly protectors. I also really appreciated that while it is a romance, it is "clean" and no heavy sex scenes

Wow! Amazing listen.

I was given a promo code for this book and was so excited because this book sounded like my kind of book. It has not disappointed! I cannot wait to read more by this author.

First, the narrator. This can make or break an audiobook. This narrator is amazing. Absolutely perfect. His Irish accent is a little thick so I had to listen very carefully at first but I got used to it. He is incredible. He really brought the story to life for me.

The writing is very clear and the story is rich with folklore and suspense. There is lots of action, and the romance is not overdone. I found it hard to put this book down, from the moment I pressed play I kept this book playing because I had to know what happened. I don’t want to spoil it, so I will just say you have to give this book a try! I think Nora Roberts fans as well as Outlander fans would like this. Even if you’re not a fan of either, give this a listen. I am going to listen to it again!

Slightly disjointed

The story was entertaining. There were a few disjointed plot lines however. The heroine was assessing their family’s old estate in England for repairs, and to hire people for that. However, she was rescued by an immortal man, and learned about weres and the group fighting them. She readily accepted this new reality. The immortals included her within days in their efforts. These two events just seemed too easy, and I thought them unlikely. Also, the ending also seemed a too contrived “happy ever after”. But it was okay for light listening.

Worth a listen!

The writing was a bit clunky at times and the story occasionally felt a bit rushed.
That being said, it’s a solid story overall, and worth a listen if this sort of genre appeals to you.
The narrator does a wonderful job and his voice is soothing.

Worth a credit? 🤷‍♀️

Bound by Oath and Honour by Debbie Peterson is a fantasy romance that transcends time. IMHO, it doesn’t seem like the story is developed very well. I had a hard time understanding the different dimensions and why Tala, the heroine, was in danger. Just to be fair, I will listen to it again to give it a second chance and see if I got distracted and missed something key to the plot.

Narrator, Andrew McDermott did an awesome job! His various character voices made it easy to follow who was saying what. Also, his voice is very easy to listen to and I will definitely be adding him to my list of swoon worthy narrators. I love an Irish/English/Scottish accent. Andrew’s 5 star performance is what gives the overall rating 4 stars.

Is it worth a credit? 👍🏻 Yes, just to hear Andrew, it is.😉

Bound by Oath and Honour

This was the first book by this author and narrator. Enjoyed the story and the narrator. At times his accent was a little thick but was enjoyable to listen to. This was PNR slow burn type romance. Time travel. Other realms. Immortals. Alien shape shifters.

Fun Read

3.5 Stars - If you like the typical romance formula and fantastical characters and settings then you'll enjoy this book. It's a fun, predictable read. Andrew McDermott does a great job narrating and his Irish brogue is very pleasing to listen to.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I'm very thankful for the opportunity to listen to it.

Interesting story

Fantasy is the genre I listen to the least, but this story held my interest with it's unusual mix of different realms and the modern world. It even had time travel! Somehow it all worked together in a believable way within the context of the story. I could imagine it all as the author described it. The hidden, secret places of the world where the characters could slip into another time or dimension. It was fascinating, and yet also grounded the story in our reality so it didn't seem too fantastical. I also liked the historical references, which added to the realism. Micah was like a modern day knight with his honor and chivalry. The romance was in keeping with his values, and it was lovely and romantic.

I think that the narrator voiced Micah perfectly, and he also did a great job with the voices of the side characters. There were several of them, and they were easy to distinguish. His female voice was well done too and sounded believably feminine. His Irish accent was so charming and an absolute pleasure to listen to.
