An Enemies-to-Lovers Romance

When Gianna watches her older sister being forced into an arranged marriage, she promises herself to escape a similar fate.

The moment Matteo - The Blade - Vitiello sees Gianna on his brother’s wedding, he wants to possess her. Her father agrees to the bond, but Gianna has no intention of marrying for any other reason than love. A few months before the wedding, Gianna runs away and begins a new life in Europe away from the mafia. But one of their best hunters and assassins is after her: Matteo.

When Matteo and a couple of her father’s soldiers catch her, not only her freedom is at risk, but also the life of the people with her.

Gianna is taken home and forced to marry Matteo.

Ridden by guilt over having dragged innocent people into her world and overcome with hatred toward Matteo, Gianna is determined to make life hell for her husband. But Matteo is a master at mind games and their struggle for power soon turns into hate-fueled nights of passion.

I love Wenn Ross!

I couldn’t wait for this part of the story because I like Mateo and I knew Wenn would kill it! This series has been enjoyable so far, so I’m going to Lilly’s story next. Happy listening.

She is the most frustrated girl ever!!!

OMG!! Gianna is the most irritated, dumb, selfish person ever, never took responsibility for her actions and always blame others for her stupid mistakes. She should had been punish for all her actions, if you are going to skip a book, skip this one, the whole book is her doing stupid things and blaming others for her mistakes:-(

I was hoping for Mateo’s story but got spoiled brat Gianna instead 😰

I was looking forward this book so so hard thinking it’s going to be Mateo’s story (Luca’s story style) with a dash of Gianna. Nope, more of a duet… 😩 if I thought aria was annoying because of when she “blew up” Gianna was infuriating.

May contain spoiler alert in the following rant:
Gianna is born IN the outfit. She’s seen what everyone absolutely EVERY woman go through arranged marriage per their “tradition” I don’t fault her for hating it and wanting to marry for love. I understood the need to run away (even though the inner monologues there were too too distracting and almost yelled damn! Stay then!) I even understood the longing for what she had available to her when she was broke etc. what I DON’T understand was the defiance, the inability to think. She was downright stupid. Her father, who owns her in their traditions, says Whore House or marry Mateo she’s still acting out? Gets the expected slaps because she doesn’t know where to talk THEN blames Mateo, the man she “doesn’t want to marry” that he didn’t stop her father from hitting her?? Make it make sense please. I wanted Mateo to back out and then let her be taken to the whore house theeeeen be the first customer who rescues her as well to learn her lesson…. I get defiance but she just doesn’t know when to quit and when to exert it… she really came off as a spoiled petulant child, that’s me trying to be very kind. In my head, before I read this story, she was defiant, talks back but in a smart way and even fun way…. Her “talking back didn’t even have a reason behind it… she also came off as glutton for pain? She knew who her father was but constantly said things that she knew would get her hit… hence selfish and didn’t care for anyone… not even the siblings she lied to herself that she cared for… and yes! Syd was HER fault! She could have pleaded with Mateo quicker, yet, she was monologuing in her head then she was “shocked” I really 🙄🙄 a LOT! I even started skipping her parts… hoping there may be some redeeming qualities…She took and took from people who actually loved her but gave very little…

It was her duty to fight the marriage also to hold for syd? Seriously? Her stubborn side? Laughable… are there really women even close to this thinking?

The way Gianna was and Mateo still liked her? Made him dumb in my book… I may have understood a tad IF she gave her virginity to him before she ran? But then no one would believe she didn’t sleep with every man she met… since she wasn’t trying to clear the air anyway…Mateo was blinded by her “beauty” and was led by what was in his pants… why would he want to marry someone who didn’t even like him? 🙄 she knew she could mistreat him and he walked right into it…

Not as realistic as Luca and Valentina’s story.

I’m going to put it on Ice because it feels more of Gianna’s story 😩 I may go to the next one… ugh… Luca’s story got me too excited for the series and bought them like a dummy… this one is such a let down (I mean book 1 is too buuuuut it may be the narrator because I didn’t get too far I was cringing and couldn’t focus)

I’ll change my rating when I finish it but for now chapter 16 of 23 I don’t have high hopes.

This book gave me angst to my annoyance

I bought this book for the bickering but I hate drama created by characters forcibly not saying what they already know even to people they say they trust. “I trust her.” “I tell him/her everything” except for ALL these important things that’s important. I’ll keep all this info so drama can be created. Yeah. That got old and annoying. So, Luca and Aria’s story is still my favorite.

Gianna and Matteo

I didn’t think I would like Matteo but I found him very likeable. Gianna was a hoot. She was a very strong-willed young woman whose father was a b@stard. Matteo would kill first and think later. He never thought of consequences. I am really enjoying the Born in Blood series and am looking forward to the next one. Wen Ross and Lynn Barrington both did a great job with the narration.

Another winner!

Just like the previous audiobooks of this series this was another outstanding listen!! The writing overall is so well done! The pace of the storyline and the sense of urgency is so well developed. And then by having a dual POV it allows us to be able to grasp the internal struggles of these characters and what they are going through. The narration is outstanding for both Wen Ross & Lynn Barrington! Really great casting because they were able to perform all the nuanced and their voices lend themselves to these characters very well.

Female Heroine is a total Brat.

This female heroine is ANNOYING. Great story but how much can one man withstand. Gianna is a immature brat who doesn’t understand what love is maybe because she was brought up in a world where she was born and bred as a peace offering. Matteo on the other hand thought he found the perfect match in Gianna who would keep the Spice in and out the bedroom.

The “Born in Blood” chronicles is here to stay!!

A lot of people hated Gianna but honestly I thought she was a very realistic character. Stubborn and headstrong like her father and the men she grew up around. She bugged me of course, especially when it was so obvious how much she loved Matteo but overall I still loved her character! Matteo is probably my favorite out of the series! He’s funny, witty but still such a softie when it comes to the woman he loves!!! The push and pull can be a lot for some readers but I really enjoyed this book!! The banter was so fun!! Another great Mafia romance!!

Love the story

Matteo is all things dark, dangerous, humorous, unpredictable, loyal and hot AF! Wen Ross did an amazing job with the narration with his deep sexy voice.
Gianna as a character was immature and extremely annoying. Matteo wanting a fiery mate to suit his personality makes sense. But he falls for Gianna who is ‘naive and immature’ and constantly puts herself and the family in danger. Just not believable and detracted from enjoying what had the potential to be an outstanding story like Luca’s.
