Publisher's Summary

Discover country music star Sara Evans’ inspirational story about her rise to stardom, her roundabout path to love, and how her faith brings daily joy no matter the circumstances.

Sara Evans - a Billboard, ACM, and CMA Award - winning country music star who’s been named one of People’s “50 Most Beautiful People” and competed on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars - has been inspiring fans throughout her successful music career.

In this powerful, personal, and often humorous book, Sara opens up and shares stories from her career, describing what it’s like living in the spotlight and how her faith keeps her strong. She writes about overcoming life’s most challenging experiences, from a childhood accident that nearly took her life, to the loss she experienced when her parents divorced, and from her own painful and very public divorce, to finding incredible love when she least expected it with former pro quarterback-turned-sportscaster Jay Barker. Now, after over a decade of marriage, Sara and Jay’s blended family of nine is thriving, filling her life with focus and meaning.

As she weaves the narrative of her life, Sara candidly reveals the things that are most important to her and her family now, her favorite tips about staying true to herself and her faith, knowing when to ask for help, abandoning perfectionism, and the importance of a strong support group of friends and family. Fans old and new will enjoy this inspiring, heartfelt book.

Summary did not line up with the words on the pages

I would highly recommend you not read this book unless you want to learn about how to parent the way that Sara Evans feels you should parent. She goes into deep discussion on how she parents and basically tells you that her way is the way to do it and if you do XYZ then your parenting incorrectly.

I wanted to read a book about her that told me her story based on the summary I read not how she thinks people should parent. She was very judgmental in this book.

Starts off great, but disappoints 2/3 through

I am such a fan of autobiographies. I was very much looking forward to reading this title because I have been a fan of Sara‘s for many years. It was very interesting to learn about her early days. But it seems that as soon as she begins to discuss her second marriage, she begins to rub the reader the wrong way. Her tone becomes self-righteous and condescending, putting down others for doing things like using paper plates and various other motherhood survival skills. She is out of touch with reality if I have interpreted her correctly. However, her comments on the male dominated world of country music are spot on and need to be brought to light. I just hope that people can hear that through the discomfort of the rest of the text.

Hard to finish

I've grown up with her music and been an avid fan, but wow this peek behind the curtain changed my perception... I couldnt help but feel like I was listening to an entitled brat for much of this. Will continue listening to the music just with less enthusiasm than before.

What a LIFE!! Amazing!!!

I have always loved listening to Sara Evans....I can remember being in the car, getting ready to go into our small towns post office and hearing Three Chords And The Truth come on the radio and I sat there and listened to the entire song. I was hoping they would say who this angelic voice belonged to. Her voice has a way of grabbing your heart and soul and making you feel every emotion she feels! I have been a huge fan ever since that day! I bought all her albums in every format possible. Reading this book only validated what I already knew to be true about this amazing artist! She is an amazing story teller and I couldn't stop listening to the book. I recommend anyone who appreciates good people and good values will love this book! I cannot wait to see what this beautiful person does next!! The world is a real fine place to live with Sara Evans in it!!

Lighthearted fun read with life lesson advice

Fun read, good motivation to go after what you want and not to settle for what you don't. She's relatable.

It was ok…

First off let me say, I LOVE Sara Evans and have followed her career for years. I was excited about this book and unfortunately was disappointed. The first part is great and kept my attention. I enjoyed it! The second part was more of her giving advice on how you should do things in life based on what she does and thinks. It came across to me more judgmental than advice and I got annoyed. I even fast forwarded through parts I got so tired of it. 😬😬 So first part is great but second part you can skip.

Definitely a favorite

Loved it!! The only draw back was some of the language. I prefer my kids not to hear or be called some things.

A lot in common

I knew I loved to hear Sara Evans sing and shared a few things in common with her - she was born in Missouri and lives in Alabama. I was born in Alabama and we lived in Missouri for about nine years before moving back home to Alabama. We both love Jay Barker, in different ways, of course. Roll Tide!

Inside "Born To Fly" I learned a lot more about Sara and her journey in life so far. It has been an interesting journey to say the least, from near death accidents to blended families, faith and women in country music. It is a very candid look at her life so far.

Hearing the author reading their book and their life is always a great experience as this was for me. I expect it will be for you too.

Literally

I don’t know why the editors didn’t tell her to stop using the work literally! It’s a good book, but she needed some help with the writing. It reads like a 15 year old writing it.
