Story
By the time Shania Twain was two, her parents had divorced, and by early childhood, her family of seven was often without food, at times living in a filthy one-bedroom apartment. But when her mother and stepfather were tragically killed in an automobile accident when she was 22, Shania knew that the only way to lift her family out of poverty was to use her God-given singing talent. At an age when most young people have only themselves to think about, Shania moved her entire family to a nearby resort where she began performing, supporting her younger brothers and sisters.

I’ve been in this life for 50 years, been trying to work out its riddle for 42, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last 35. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me.

Story
It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.

Publisher's Summary
Discover country music star Sara Evans’ inspirational story about her rise to stardom, her roundabout path to love, and how her faith brings daily joy no matter the circumstances.
Sara Evans - a Billboard, ACM, and CMA Award - winning country music star who’s been named one of People’s “50 Most Beautiful People” and competed on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars - has been inspiring fans throughout her successful music career.
In this powerful, personal, and often humorous book, Sara opens up and shares stories from her career, describing what it’s like living in the spotlight and how her faith keeps her strong. She writes about overcoming life’s most challenging experiences, from a childhood accident that nearly took her life, to the loss she experienced when her parents divorced, and from her own painful and very public divorce, to finding incredible love when she least expected it with former pro quarterback-turned-sportscaster Jay Barker. Now, after over a decade of marriage, Sara and Jay’s blended family of nine is thriving, filling her life with focus and meaning.
As she weaves the narrative of her life, Sara candidly reveals the things that are most important to her and her family now, her favorite tips about staying true to herself and her faith, knowing when to ask for help, abandoning perfectionism, and the importance of a strong support group of friends and family. Fans old and new will enjoy this inspiring, heartfelt book.

What a LIFE!! Amazing!!!
I have always loved listening to Sara Evans....I can remember being in the car, getting ready to go into our small towns post office and hearing Three Chords And The Truth come on the radio and I sat there and listened to the entire song. I was hoping they would say who this angelic voice belonged to. Her voice has a way of grabbing your heart and soul and making you feel every emotion she feels! I have been a huge fan ever since that day! I bought all her albums in every format possible. Reading this book only validated what I already knew to be true about this amazing artist! She is an amazing story teller and I couldn't stop listening to the book. I recommend anyone who appreciates good people and good values will love this book! I cannot wait to see what this beautiful person does next!! The world is a real fine place to live with Sara Evans in it!!

Starts off great, but disappoints 2/3 through
I am such a fan of autobiographies. I was very much looking forward to reading this title because I have been a fan of Sara‘s for many years. It was very interesting to learn about her early days. But it seems that as soon as she begins to discuss her second marriage, she begins to rub the reader the wrong way. Her tone becomes self-righteous and condescending, putting down others for doing things like using paper plates and various other motherhood survival skills. She is out of touch with reality if I have interpreted her correctly. However, her comments on the male dominated world of country music are spot on and need to be brought to light. I just hope that people can hear that through the discomfort of the rest of the text.

A lot in common
I knew I loved to hear Sara Evans sing and shared a few things in common with her - she was born in Missouri and lives in Alabama. I was born in Alabama and we lived in Missouri for about nine years before moving back home to Alabama. We both love Jay Barker, in different ways, of course. Roll Tide!
Inside "Born To Fly" I learned a lot more about Sara and her journey in life so far. It has been an interesting journey to say the least, from near death accidents to blended families, faith and women in country music. It is a very candid look at her life so far.
Hearing the author reading their book and their life is always a great experience as this was for me. I expect it will be for you too.

I wish I wouldn’t have read this book :(
I was always a fan of Sara Evans...until now. I wish I hadn’t read this book because I now have a completely different perspective of her. She was very negative about almost everyone she talked about in this book. She complained a lot. She gave her close minded opinions and assumptions about people or ideas. It was shocking and disappointing.
