Back in the 1960s, 10-year-old Sassy lived a cloistered life with her family in an old broken down school bus, hidden back off the dirt roads, nestled deep in the Ozark Mountains. When their mama falls seriously ill, she and her siblings set out on foot to find their father to bring him home.

Days later they end up in the small mountainside town of Whisper Ridge, where a host of colorful characters band together to try to help them. However, not knowing their parents by any name other than Mama and Daddy presents quite a problem with the search. Complicating matters, Sassy realizes that she, too, is known only by her nickname. Will she be able to unravel her true identity?

Narrator Dana Reynolds’ deep rooted Ozark accent is a natural fit for this narratives dramatic humor. This story is infused with original songs and music by local Ozark artists to enhance your listening pleasure!

I didn’t hear any problem with the sounds of her reading the book. Her country hillbilly sounding voice was almost like music to my ears. I was wanting to here more and more. I could envision each of the characters. It was like she was taking me on a journey to some of my pass childhood. I felt like I knew quite a bit of the characters personally. Well at least the names. I loved the songs, even the whistling one was so good. Plus all those lessons in life about God and what He expects out of all us Bona-Fide people , made me think of my Momma. Sounded just like my mother. I love the book. Good job, Good job!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Enjoy listening to Bona-Fide ❤️

One of my favorite things about this book is its non- formulaic nature. The story is great and gripping and you can never tell which way it’s going to turn. The narrator has an authentic Ozark voice, but the performance was not quite as tightly edited as the majority of books on Audible.

Excellent story, keeps surprising

I was completely obsessed with this book! I'm one that has trouble getting hooked when reading but this one had me right off the bat! The narrator had the perfect accent and did a wonderful job. I honestly was sad when it ended. I hope to read more very soon by Ms. Tassin!

Beautiful and Captivating

I really enjoyed Bona-Fide when I read it, but the audible version brings it to life. BJ has assembled a great group of people. Dana was the voice I had given Sassy as I read for myself. Thank you, BJ, for sharing your story with us!

Sad to finish it

Excellent story. Well developed characters. Good description of the Southern culture at that time. In a few places the narration was repeated.

Most wonderful story a live!

The story itself is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Well written. The voice of the narrator is perfect for this book. However, the narrator seems to stumble through the text. Editing of the recording is the worst I’ve heard. Many sentences are repeated in the recording and can actually hear the pages being turned.

Love the story, but the recording is weak

Wonderful story. Love the voice of Sassy! A couple of technical errors but definitely a must read. I will definitely listen to it again.
