#1 New York Times bestselling author and “queen of royal fiction” (USA Today) Philippa Gregory returns with a dazzling historical novel of ambition, betrayal, and survival in the court of Henry VIII.

Jane Boleyn watches from the shadows of the Tudor court, where secrets are currency, every choice is dangerous, and even the faintest whisper can seal the fate of queens.

For Jane, survival demands playing every role required of her: a loving wife who conceals her doubts, a devoted sister to Anne Boleyn at the height of her power, and an obedient spy who carefully wields her words. But in a court ruled by ambition and a tyrant’s sword, Jane must rely on her sharp wit and skillful maneuvering to outthink those around her, knowing that one wrong move could cost her everything.

Philippa Gregory masterfully shines a spotlight on the untold story of Jane Boleyn, peeling back the myths to reveal a complex portrait of a woman who dared to survive at any cost. Perfect for fans of thrilling historical drama and listeners captivated by the intrigue of the Tudor period, Boleyn Traitor is a must-listen.

I love that Philippa Gregory amended her previous interpretation of Jane Boleyn’s character. As always, she brings the Tudor Cort alive. Even though I know how the story ends, Philippa breathes new life into the characters and I CARED so much about Jane and Kitty that I was hoping against hope that she would take artistic license and spirit them both away to Italy.

Philippa Gregory delivers again

Loved this book. Having read much of the rest of the author’s catalog I really enjoyed learning about Jane and being familiar with so many of the other figures already.

Might be my fave Gregory title, yet!

I liked this story because it took on a different view this time from other books I have read on Tutor history. Even compared to some earlier works of Gregory. She has to be my most favorite writer.

Excellent story

Ms Gregory is a true mistress and virtuoso of historical fiction, her prose flows in an effortless, yet captivating way. Her portrayal of Jane is nuanced and multifaceted. Even though this representation is certainly more sympathetic than the villain we are used to from many sources past, she is by no means an innocent. Jane still does horrible things, but we understand why she does them. She is driven by ambition, but her kindness and goodness shine through at every stage of this courtly game of manipulation and survival. Highly recommended!

Amazing story and the narration was perfect! I could listen to Gemma ALL day! It was great hearing this story from a different point of view. I’ve real all of Gregory’s other Tudor novels and really wasn’t a fan of Jane. This story has given me a completely different perspective into her life and her own struggles

Amazing Narration

Written in the first oerson, we witness the internal process of Jane Bolyn’s intelligence and ability to manipulate despite being ‘just’ a woman. Although she is basically a decent human being, she is a survivor in her world by her depth of understanding of human nature. She navigates opaquely behind the scenes of the royal court of Henry VIII with full knowledge of the danger and his treachery. The Bolyns are so fascinating and Gregory’s meticulous research addresses the more recent idea that we may have overly villainized them. Ms Gregory has kept me in thrall ever since I first read “The Other Bolyn Girl”. In her notes she reports she has another book due. I’m waiting impatiently.

Author continues to exhibit elegance in everything she touches.

The blend of history and fiction was seamless. Every one of Phillipa Gregory's Tudor books is a joy to read and the narrators always enhance the text.

An extraordinary work!

This book was a new refreshing (and horrifying) look into #8 from a completely different point of view. JB led quite a life, it really is sad so little was known about her, as is true with so many important but non famous people throughout history. I really enjoyed how Catherine “Kitty” softened Jane and she was able to see fresh young love through the eyes of an incredibly young and naive queen. Beautifully written, I listened to it at every chance. The narrator was fantastic also. I will listen again in a few months.
