Publisher's summary

After decades of opposition, the Latter-day Saints have dedicated the Salt Lake Temple, a mighty symbol of their industry and faith. Now, with a new century on the horizon, the Saints are optimistic about the future and ready to spread the Savior's message of peace across the globe.

But the world is rapidly changing. Advances in transportation and communication allow people and information to cross vast distances in record time. And young people are venturing far from home as never before, seeking educational and professional opportunities their parents and grandparents could hardly imagine. As the Church begins to take root in Europe, South America, and Asia, the Saints rejoice in the rise of the global Church. Yet many are wary of the challenges the changing world poses to the cause of Zion. While the promise of the new century is bright, it comes with dire economic hardships, brutal global wars, and other unprecedented trials.

Boldly, Nobly, and Independent is the third book in Saints, a new, four-volume narrative history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Fast-paced, meticulously researched, and written under the direction of the First Presidency, Saints recounts true stories of Latter-day Saints across the globe and answers the Lord's call to write a history "for the good of the Church, and for the rising generations" (Doctrine and Covenants 69:8).

Easy Church growth history timeline

The final restoration of Christ's Kingdom on earth depicks an interesting incremental timeline describing growth and history of the Church; at the same time creating interest with different individual members and priesthood leadership in various continental missions.

I loved it!

I have been a member all my life, yet there was so many things I had never heard of before. It was very well done! The narrator was excellent as well.

I truly love this book...

I truly love this book. I learned so very much about the Church and I found it interesting to learn about things that happened and I only had part of the story. This series of books have been the best at explaining the rest of the story. I will be using these books as a great reference and for rereading pleasure. I highly recommend all of these books to everyone.

skipping in audible

audible skipped/hiccuped 2-3 times per chapter. the boom itself was fairly good, a lot of information. I didn't find it as enthralling as the last 2 in the series.

These books keep getting better

The story is very refreshing as it moves from late pioneer days to the modern era, and begins to look like the church as it now stands. Very worthwhile.

Great read but poor narration

Fascinating material but I found audio version unappealing. The narrator’s tone of voice, cadence, and use of very odd accents distracted me from the story lines. I was not alive during that time period, but I have heard some recordings and I’m pretty sure no one sounded like the narrator portrays them. Example: Wilford Woodruff’s 1897 testimony. And countless later recordings from that period.
