The Doctrine and Covenants: A collection of latter-day divine revelations and inspired declarations.

The Lord gave these to Joseph Smith and several of his successors for the establishment and regulation of the kingdom of God on the earth in the last days. The Doctrine and Covenants is one of the standard works of scripture in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, along with the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the Pearl of Great Price. The Doctrine and Covenants is unique, however, because it is not a translation of ancient documents; the Lord gave these revelations to his chosen prophets in this modern day in order to restore his kingdom. In the revelations, one hears the tender but firm voice of the Lord Jesus Christ (D&C 18:35–36).

Joseph Smith’s history says that the Doctrine and Covenants is the foundation of the Church in the last days and a benefit to the world (D&C 70 heading). The revelations in it initiate the work of preparing the way for the Lord’s Second Coming, in fulfillment of all the words spoken by the prophets since the world began.

The Pearl of Great Price: The kingdom of God on earth is likened to a “pearl of great price” (Matt. 13:45–46).

The Pearl of Great Price is also the name given to one of four volumes of scripture called the “standard works” of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The first edition of the Pearl of Great Price was published in 1851 and contained some material that is now in the Doctrine and Covenants. Editions published since 1902 contain (1) excerpts from Joseph Smith’s translation of Genesis, called the book of Moses, and of Matthew 24, called Joseph Smith - Matthew; (2) Joseph Smith’s translation of some Egyptian papyrus that he obtained in 1835, called the book of Abraham; (3) an excerpt from Joseph Smith’s history of the Church that he wrote in 1838, called Joseph Smith - History; and (4) the Articles of Faith, 13 statements of belief and doctrine.

Female Narrator

I do not like a female Narrator reading Jesus Christ words. If using female voice for description on each chapter that is okay. Not for the words of Christ.

Excellent option with eye issues

This was a good option not only because I could have it on while doing other tasks, but eye issues made it a necessity and blessing. The cadence of the readers were a bit annoying, sorry but true, so I increased the speed and it was much better for me.

Wonderful for Those of Us that Believe

those of us that truly believed in The Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ this is most wonderful. Reading, for me, is a struggle.
I have terrible eyes; hearing the D&C, and the Pearl of Great Price is a blessing. I hope you will continue to bless the world with more books of Faith.

Beautiful, Spirtual Book of Modern Prophcy

This should be a keenly important book to the members The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It contains history of the church and many soul worthy revelations leading us in these latter days.

Pick it up and read it and you will know the truth. It’s as simple as that.

something wrong with the recording

first Mr Smith has a habit of parroting verbatim previous sections of his own work so it makes it very hard to determine if the recording is screwed up if it's or just his atrocious writing. After awhile though I have concluded that the recording is indeed screwy with various sections within chapters recorded twice. apparently editing is of no concern so I will not bother to continue this painfully dubious work of meandering visions.
