In 1820, a young farm boy in search of truth has a vision of God the Father and Jesus Christ. Three years later, an angel guides him to an ancient record buried in a hill near his home. With God’s help, he translates the record and organizes the Savior’s church in the latter days. Soon others join him, accepting the invitation to become Saints through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

But opposition and violence follow those who defy old traditions to embrace restored truths. The women and men who join the church must choose whether or not they will stay true to their covenants, establish Zion, and proclaim the gospel to a troubled world.

The Standard of Truth is the first book in Saints, a new, four-volume narrative history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Fast-paced, meticulously researched, Saints recounts true stories of Latter-day Saints across the globe and answers the Lord’s call to write history “for the good of the church, and for the rising generations” (Doctrine and Covenants 69:8).

Wow

I loved hearing this historical account of the early Latter Day Saints and how the Church of Jesus Christ was forged from the hardships and trials of the early Saints. This is a faith filled story of hope and determination and standing with God even when an entire country conspired against them.

uplifting and edifying

I absolutely love this book! It has given me more appreciation for the pioneers that sacrificed so much. I feel that my testimony of my Savior has grown due to the knowledge that I have learned from the content of this book.

True story without editorialization. Very open and honest, with full documentation. Engaging. I look forward to book 2!

I empathized with the Saints all the way through. Many of my ancestors were among them and I was constantly thinking of them and what they endured.

I am not a Latter Day Saint but a Christian. I was always curious about their history and their beliefs. this book will share so much information especially the persecution against them which I had no idea.

It is sad to read about how many times the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were denied their rights as citizens of the United States.
