Publisher's summary

Men ruin women...especially men like Chase Davis. Good looking, intelligent, rich, and powerful - I never stood a chance. When he entered my life, I was finally healing after having barely survived the men of my past. My soul sisters told me to take a chance, to let someone in. I let him in, and he surrounded me with a light so bright that I was blinded by the truth.

Men don't ruin women. They devour them in every way that counts.

A really good read/listen if a bit rushed at times

This story had a lot of similarities to 50 Shades but was still a good read/listen. The narrator is enjoyable and does a great job of switching it up for the different characters!

She needs more therapy

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The female character still needs therapy . The "has it all" male character is pure teen fantasy. It's was hard to relate to any of the characters and the story is predictable. My guess the evil villain is the second boyfriend- just saying .

What do you think your next listen will be?

Back to epic fantasy

How could the performance have been better?

Not sure

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

it's okay

Well there is a lot of questions about the H past and present with it comes to other women that was never answered. She puts her foot down then forgets about what happened... that's not realistic I know I wouldn't forget especially since his past keeps coming up it was annoying. Let's not forget no using protection with his rep that's just a hell no not until you get tested....oh and there is no cheating.

Really 50 Shades of Grey knock off

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book has no story and the reader is horrible. It's got the same verbiage and the same story as 50 Shades of Grey.

What could Audrey Carlan have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not written a knock off

What didn’t you like about Callie Dalton’s performance?

Nothing her narration was horrible. It sounded like she was just reading the book. No conviction.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment

GREAT STORY, TOO CLOSE TO 50 SHADES, THOUGH!

There are similarities to the Fifty Shades series, but Ms. Carlan did managed to put her own spin into it. Gillian, the female character, is broken down from a domestic relationship and comes in with baggage, while Chase, plays her "knight in shining armani". They'd quickly fell in love, and the rest go from there. Then it got an interesting twist where now there is a stalker involved. Is it an ex or someone who wants to drive her out of Chase's life?

Body

Gillian is nuts. She goes for drinks with Chase. Barely into the date another woman insinuates herself between the bar stools between her and Chase. Chase allows her to put her hands all over him, kiss him and rub herself all over him. Rightly so, Gillian leaves. However, she stupidly runs into a bad part of the city and gets herself mugged. Chase takes her back to the hotel and of course she wants to have sex with him.

I have a big problem with the man allowing other women to put their hands and other body parts on them. I also have a problem with the stupid women that just overlook this.

So many red flags

Chase is a total red flag of a man. Possessive, jealous to a psycho degree, controlling, and not much different from Gigi’s exes. He may not beat her, but he smothers and controls every aspect of her life and disguises it with love bombing. I guess it’s okay because he is attractive and the “master of the universe”. She is self aware and should know better. Also, if you have trauma regarding domestic violence or other things that I will leave unsaid, you might want to skip this one. It gets detailed to say the least.
