Tracy Deonn, wow. The little black girl in me that loves the fantastical world of magic and warlocks and of course, being black af, livedddd.

MIND BLOWN 🤯🤯🤯🤯

Where is book 3? I needed it like yesterday. Nothing I was surprised, shocked, and in awe of this story. I could not put this book down. The narration was 5 🌟, the writing was 5 🌟 and my love for the way the characters were written were 5 🌟.

What is the moral?

A well written tale of modern fantasy, with poorly written characters. Bree never does anything that isn't directly selfish until it slaps her and immediately returns to being completely self-centered and in the end is granted control of basically limitless power without training for it, how does that make sense? I'll return for the third installment for the lore and fantasy, but the characters are extremely surface level.

there's so much that goes on! I can't wait for the next book. it was cool getting to see more Arthur and the knights in their hayday

I really like it but…

Bri lacks self awareness and can be very naive. The ending did catch me off guard but I do love this series.

Got me again

The way that the history of King Arthur and the legacy of slavery are woven together to show what impact it has on us today is flawless.
This is a powerful story expertly crafted and told with a stunning performance.
I got so caught up in the book it distracted me more than once from doing my work!!! It’s an excellent read and a fun journey.

Can’t wait for the third installment! I love the story and enjoyed the reading. Everything about this story is awesome! Harry Potter meets Twilight and Charmed. I don’t know. Just juicy!

Loved it!

I recently got into fantasy and I wanted to try this series. It did not disappoint! So glad to see Bre finally fight back in the sequel!

Great MC

Majority of the books that I’ve read this year has been women main characters and I always find myself not liking them being extremely irritated and just finding them annoying and corny but the main character in this series is probably my favorite so far.

She still has that main character characteristics but the author writes her pretty realistic. Bre definitely has her moments of her being selfish, but she definitely overcome that.

Did not disappoint!!

I was hesitant after reading some reviews that mentioned that the booked hammered on racism too hard or the love triangle was annoying or that Bree was too obnoxiously naive.

I disagree on all accounts! The author walks a fine line between addressing persisting issues of being a minority and weaves it into a beautiful storyline. This IS a Young Adult book so there is bound to be drawn out love tension between the characters. I am super interested in seeing how it all resolves! Bree is annoying in the beginning, but that is how character development can occur. I encourage the reader to stick through it. it's worth it! Can't wait for the next book :)
