Publisher's Summary

Here, ladies and gentlemen, you have "the kitchen from hell." This is a sordid, hilarious tale of what goes on behind the scenes in the kitchen of a hotel restaurant. After reading this story, you might never again eat in another hotel restaurant, or any restaurant for that matter. Unfortunately, this story was based on the truth!

Excellent Narration!!!

A funny story that made me chuckle out loud on numerous occasions. The narrator did an outstanding job. One of the best I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

I'll skip my salad after listening to this book 😂

This short story takes place in Alabama in 1958. A situation unfolds at a hotel in the kitchen where the staff scurries around quickly to try to resolve a problem. John gives us such a vivid description of what's happening that its easy to envision the panic going on. The narration is well done and added a little humor to this story. I requested this book in exchange for my honest review. I recommend this and other book's by John for anyone looking for a entertaining short story.

Pretty Funny

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Well, I will never look at a salad the same way again. This was funny, it was entertaining, and the characters are well written for such a short story. The story itself felt quite real and I really enjoyed it.

Awful

BOOK REVIEW........I may never eat a salad again. The story wasn't good at all. To many characters and no real story.

NARRATOR REVIEW.....
The narrator needs to work on his voices more.

Shudder

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Lots of characters in a VERY short story. The narrator did a great job of giving them all their own voice, though, so it wasn't a detraction. Pretty darn nasty goings on in this book. If you are squeamish, I wouldn't go for this one. It was funny at times, though.

This will stick in my mind

This is a story I'm not going to be able to forget. The descriptions are vivid and the characters are remarkably life like for such a short story. I will never look at salad the same again!

The narration is well done with great accents for the character voices.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Extra condiments in the salad...gross...

A pretty good little short. I am still waiting for John to write something with some real juice to it. This one was fine, but nothing really happened and the question at the end drove me crazy a little bit. I was a chef for 10 years and would never allow anything near this kind of thing ever, ever happen anywhere I worked. And if I was the one who found "it" in my salad, I would have went ballistic. Anybody who wouldn't is nuts. I sure as hell wouldn't have kept eating. Nasty.

This will make your stomach churn

This is a story that could only take place in a different era with different values and outlooks on social behaviors and interactions. It takes place in a hotel's kitchen as timing and carelessness collide in a situation that is to me, unthinkably gross! I think I just threw up a little.

A must read for those who love macabre dining stories

I’ve been in food service for 25 years. I never get tired of hearing the war stories of others from the industry. They are so varied and amusing and the majority make you never want to eat out again. Love it! I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
