Acerca de esta escucha

Jeff Stetson has received eight NAACP Theater Image Awards for his play The Meeting, which aired on American Playhouse on PBS. He offers a thought-provoking work of fiction with Blood on the Leaves.

Old white men - alleged perpetrators of racial killings during the civil rights struggle - are being brutally murdered in the South. Now it's up to the only black deputy district attorney to prosecute these racially motivated crimes.

The book didn't end the way I thought and some of the story line was missing direction, nevertheless, I enjoyed the writing very much.

Would you listen to Blood on the Leaves again? Why?

Yes, I enjoyed so many of the characters and would love to listen again to see if I can pull out clues that I overlooked during the first listen. I found the writing to be very rich, outstanding dialogue

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood on the Leaves?

Gosh...so many, I suppose when Reynolds returned home and asked his mother to fill in the blanks about the incident that took place when he was a kid- that whole portion was very memorable.

Which scene was your favorite?

All of the courtroom scenes. Loved the judge!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I enjoyed the testimony scene from Dr. Matheson's mother.

Any additional comments?

Could definitely see this as a feature film!

Boss Suggested It! Glad I Read It!

I enjoyed this book and the colorful characters. It is an excellent contrast to modern day oppression and those of Jim Crow days when evil was a pastime for oppressors. The author teaches us that knowledge of the past events, can move us forward by breaking the chains of ignorance to past events.

Blood on the Leaves will keep you listening.
