Publisher's summary

Trapped on an island filled with monsters. What could be scarier than that?

When plucky Sam Lesia receives an invitation for a free vacation in the mail, she hops on the opportunity. Determined to find the perfect summer adventure with her friends, Sam thrives on the cruise ship. That is until passengers start to go missing.

Sam and her friends aren’t prepared for the vacant island the cruise ship takes them to or the nightmare creatures that inhabit it. With the help of a handsome yet mysterious island native named Lance, Sam must get to the bottom of the ancient evil threatening the land before she’s trapped there forever.

Torn between Lance and Clyde

I have so many mixed feelings on who’s team I’m on, Lance or Clyde. Clyde really aggravated me. But then won me over again. I’m equally torn between the two. This was so interesting and different. At times it seemed to go to an extreme with no build up like it should but at least it didn’t drag. For instance, when Sam snuck off to go on the ship, her Mom would’ve probably caught her before she got too far. Surely she would’ve had the cops chase them down on the water. Or someone’s parents would have caught them idk. I played along. There were other places it seemed too far fetched but barely. After all, it is paranormal stuff. There wasn’t a cliff hanger really but there’s questions left I want answers to. Like what happens next? Lol. Without giving spoilers, what will Sam tell her Mom? How much will she reveal about her “cruise”? What about the friend left on the island alone?

The performance was good. I liked the narrator. I can’t wait to listen to the next one.
